**★★★★★ — Sandi Clark, Nov. 2020**

> I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Gina of Gina Lauren Interiors. She helped me update my living room--making suggestions for paint, furniture placement and we even went to the stone yard to pick out the marble for my fireplace. When the project was just about finished, she encouraged me to add the chandelier I wanted to complete the project. She said the chandelier was like adding the perfect piece of jewelry to complete the look. She was absolutely RIGHT! I love my room.

**Comment from Gina Lauren Interiors:**

> It was such a pleasure working with you Sandi. Thank you so much for the wonderful opportunity. I love your living room and can't wait for you to enjoy it too.

> I Hired Gina to do some design work for my house. She is very sweet & professional. She came out to my place & helped me pick out all the colors, paint, tile, flooring & cabinets. She was very patient with me as o change my mind often. The job came out more beautiful than i could of imagined. Gina is a expert in her field & has an eye for design. I will always refer her to anyone especially family & friends.

**★★★★★ — Nancy, Jan. 2016**

> I have used Gina's services in a variety of ways over the past few years. I bought a large entertainment unit from Ethan Allen that would fill an entire wall and set the tone for the family room so it had to be right. Gina advised me in its style and color. Its presence has created a great look in the room. She helped me to choose fabric for a reupholstery job for two living room chairs. Her recommendation on fabric has helped to change these chairs from a classic conservative look to the more casual look that I wanted to achieve. I have also used Gina's knowledge of color and design to help in choosing the countertop, backsplash tiles and cabinets in a current kitchen remodel. Choosing these products from small samples can be scary and intimidating. I was grateful to have Gina's expertise while making these major kitchen design decisions.

**Comment from Gina Lauren Interiors:**

> Thank you Nancy! It was so great getting to help you with your various projects. I loved helping you select each piece for your rooms so that each space feels complete and finished.

**★★★★★ — kwp8, Jan. 2016**

> When it was time to refresh the decor in our family room and powder room, I turned to Ethan Allan because I have had pleasant experiences in the past with other decorating projects led by its designers. Gina was the designer I reached the day I called the Tustin, CA store. I found Gina to be upbeat and professional, and her design plans reflected an understanding of my wish list for the two rooms. She broadened my thinking about elements to include in the overall design, and our finished rooms are comfortable, lovely, and perfect for us.

**Comment from Gina Lauren Interiors:**

> Thank you for your lovely review! It was such a pleasure working with you. I can't wait to work with you on your next project.

**★★★★★ — ldelanyu, Jan. 2015**

> Gina created the furniture design for both my formal living room and family room. My experience working with her was both enjoyable and fun. She has such a positive outlook, and we worked well together. She did a fantastic job considering the current furniture in the room with her design, and stayed within my budget. It was exciting to see the rooms come together with such flair and beauty. I am very pleased with the overall results of design and the quality of the furniture. I plan to contact Gina again when I have new rooms to decorate.

**Comment from Gina Lauren Interiors:**

> Thank you Lorene for your beautiful review. I thoroughly enjoyed working with you on both rooms. I love that you love color and we were able to bring that to each room through different pieces. I look forward to our next project together.

**★★★★★ — shylajavasan79, Jan. 2015**

> We furnished our family room from Ethan Allen furniture's in Tustin. Gina Hacken, who is one of the designers in Tustin, helped us choose the best furniture's, She gave us the best choices for us to choose from, Gina captured our idea for our family room which is warm, cozy and comfortable, and definitely she bought that to us. I remember telling Gina, I need the furniture's that I would love it even after 10 or 15 years when I walk into our family room, I am sure it is going to come true!!! After enjoyed working with Gina, we are in the process of decorating our living room..... I am sure all is going to be perfect as well.
> I will definitely referrer Gina to anyone.

**Comment from Gina Lauren Interiors:**

> Thank you for you beautiful review. I absolutely loved working with you and your family. It was so much fun designing your space and helping you make it the space you've always wanted.

## Community Q&A

**Q: what is the counter top?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Love it. What type of counter top is this?

A: Hi, we chose Quartzite, Taj Mahal, leathered

**Q: Help figuring out what to do with this space and how to design it!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hello! I'm looking for help figuring out what color to paint this space and how to properly design it. It is located in the front of my house as soon as you walk in the front door. I'm interested in potentially making it some kind of reading nook with bookshelves and couches but am open to any suggestions. Basically, I want to make the space much warmer and emphasize the woodwork on the fireplace and staircase. I already have a separate living room, so it's more of an extra room but i'ts right when guests walk into my home. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

A: I know you said you wanted to preserve the wood, but I would actually consider the opposite and paint the wood trim white with the exception of the banister rail. The ballustrades I would also paint white as well as the post and detail, the wood paneling and the base boards, trim should also be painted white. I would also paint the wood matel white, add an area rug for this space, a an entry table/buffet on the wall to the right of the fireplace, with a mirror. Above the fireplace I would add a round or geometric shaped mirror, two sconces, and a round seating ottoman in front of the fireplace.

**Q: One sconce or two?** *(in Lighting)*

I love the look of gooseneck tapered sconces over a kitchen sink/window. We are trying to decide whether to use one or two sconces. The window is 50"w, the sink will be 34", and the sconce we love has the following proportions: Overall: 10.75" w x 8" d x 12.5" h; Shade: 8" dia, 6.75" h

https://www.potterybarn.com/products/walker-tapered-single-sconce/?sku=9385401

I like the look of a single light personally, but I'm worried the one we ordered will get lost over our wide window (it's wider than it is high). The firm we're working with recommended two, but then they won't be centered over the sink. Any recommenations? I'll paste some drawings of one light vs. two in the comments.

A: One would not be sufficient nor would it be balanced. In design we want to create that balance, with even proportions. So going with two sconces will give you a "balanced and completed" look and feel.

**Q: Help with decorating ideas for tall wall near stairs!** *(in Home Decorating)*

Does anyone have any good ideas for how to decorate a tall wall with stairs in front of it? A large artwork? Lots of small artworks? I have no idea what to do! The condo is in a factory conversion loft so quite industrial, concrete floors etc

A: Do a mural that covers the entire wall! Hire a professional artist who will do it for you. It will be so worth it! Do not do just 1 large art piece. The whole wall needs to be covered to reflect the whole space, and it needs to also work with the angle of the staircase. Such a fun place to live. ! The other more simplistic route is to do some sort of sculptural wall art, like the Climbing Man sculpture. That would be really fun. Good luck. Post pics when done.

**Q: Condo living design/decor help! z** *(in Home Decorating)*

I’m lost and need your help with boosting my living room area to a modern glam decor but yet child friendly.

Wall gallery above sofa
coffee/end tables
plant
pillows/ throw
rug

We live in a condo and spend most our time in this space and want to make it feel like cozy and luxurious at the same time.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated!

A: What a beautiful view you have. I would definitely highlight your view. A lot of modern glam is about texture (think, shag rugs, shiny metals, rich woods). First and foremost I would add a large shag rug to your space, almost over sized so that it covers the majority of that space in front of the sofa. Also, add some throw pillows in an animal print and a dramatic color (pink, fuschia, teal, orange, etc.). Next add a coffee table (I'd go round with small kids) in glass or mirrored with a nickel or brass finish. Add a throw (with lots of shag texture). A dramatic chandelier over the coffee table would look lovely (if you can swing it) and finally floor to ceiling dramatic drapery panels in a coordinating color. Voila! You've got a gorgeous modern glam room. Also, don't forget that your framing above the sofa should all be the same color (I'd go with black). Good luck and have fun. I'd go to Z Gallerie for some great modern glam products. They're stuff is very fun. Post pics when done.

**Q: Older Cherry Cabinets and new countertops** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hi, we are looking to update our kitchen countertops, hardware, flooring and lighting. The cabinets are medium cherry cabinets--probably dated but we aren't going to replace them. We were looking at quartz countertops (seem too manufactured for our taste) and granite (we love the sense of flow in granite). But we are very confused about what color/tone to look for that will coordinate with the orangey cabinets. I have switched a few of the canned lights to daylight bulbs to brighten the room, but they might be too bright (wash out colors). There is only one window, but it only brightens one section of the kitchen when the sun comes in and leaves the rest of the room even darker. I think I need to stay away from dark countertops. What do you think?

A: I agree with the the above. Definitely go for white or cream-y colored countertops with some black and or grey in it. Black would also be a great accent color and go for brushed nickel or stainless steel hardware to give your kitchen a modern feel. Also, you can repeat the white of the countertop by doing white subway tiles as the backsplash. Good luck on your project.
