## About

Located in New York’s historic Hudson River Valley, calderón architecture & design studio specializes in commercial and residential projects. Our design-oriented architects are licensed in New York and New Jersey, and we are a certified Minority Business Enterprise.

Our founder, J.C. Calderón, is the 2021 president-elect of the AIA Westchester + Hudson Valley chapter and a LEED Accredited Professional. A graduate of Williams College and the Yale School of Architecture, he has worked with firms such as Kohn Pedersen Fox, Tesoro Architects, Calvin Klein, and Simmons Architects. He regularly appears in media and on public panels to speak about design, urban culture, and green building practices.

We consult on residential projects with a budget range from $200,000 to $2,000,000. We seek to provide a high level of professional architectural services to improve both the private and public realm of the built environment. We procure projects and seek clients that also want these services and we develop those relationships. The services we provide are based on the client’s programmatic needs as well as a mutual respect for the design process which is by nature a creative process. We allow the program and the site to help inform the architectural solutions and listen carefully to our client’s needs. In this role our firm is more a conductor of the process allowing all the parts to play a role that is vital and leads to a greater whole.

> J.C. Calderon designed and oversaw a gut renovation of our one-bedroom apartment. He was creative, thorough and detail oriented. A pleasure to work with. 'Nuff said!

> John did a masterful job of turning my 2 bedroom apartment into an intelligent 3 bedroom apartment and also managed to bring natural light into the common areas which also allowed us to enjoy a river view in these areas as well. The apartment was entirely re-configured and he worked with the contractor superbly. He took care of getting all of the plans of quickly approved by Landmarks Preservation and filed all the plans with the Buildings Department. He saved me a great deal of money as I did not have to use expeditors. He also walked me through all of the Coop board issues and completed the application approval alteration plans in what I am told is record time. John stayed with this project until the end and even filed conforming plans with the Buildings Department at the end of the project so that I will have no issues when I sell the apartment. The Seller's broker said John's ideas greatly increased the value of my apartment for resale. More importantly we love our new home.

> JC Calderon did a marvelous redesign and renovation of our 25year old Upper East Side apartment. He went to great pains to understand and fulfill our design preferences. His understanding of light, space and color opened up the apartment both physically and visually. The ingenious hallway cutout allowed sunlight from the corner of the bedroom to reach all the way into the kitchen.
