Oriel Renovations owner, Jacob Quigley, lives in the Roncesvalles neighbourhood with his wife and two kids. The business was founded by Sean Slowey in 1973 and his nephew Jacob started working for Oriel during the mid-90s while studying Business at Wilfrid Laurier University.

Jacob worked from the bottom up and eventually bought the business in 2008. Since its early days, the business has grown from its Etobicoke roots to become a full-service general contracting company serving all of Toronto (with a strong presence in Etobicoke, Bloor West, High Park and Roncesvalles neighborhoods).

Oriel Renovations’ team of carpenters and tradesmen bring a mix of skills and experience to the job to ensure the client gets high-quality results.

What unifies all of Oriel’s workers is that they are hard-working, punctual, good communicators, pay attention to detail, have strong work ethics and are personable.

Oriel partners with a network of architects, engineers and designers to makes sure planning is done right. Our carpenters take care of the site preparation, demolition, and rough carpentry to ensure the site is ready for Oriel’s network of skilled tradesmen.

> Oriel is overpriced and they deliver low quality. They are not transparent there was an insufficient report and they never told us, we realized because the municipality mailed us. We asked for a quote for renovation of other floors and they demolished without our consent I guess because we told they we were not going to move ahead with them because their are irrationally expensive. I guess they wanted to force us to do it with them. Jacob the CEO does not want to pay us to repair the damages. The design they ask you to sign as separate contract is super bad quality, their designer will give basic drawings full of mistakes. We spent hours correcting their quotes. They wanted to install cheap hollow doors. Fortunately we noticed and they just said oh it was a misunderstanding. They are not a company to trust on.

**★★★★★ — Kelly Jenkins, Jan. 2022**

> We purchased a 130 year old victorian home in Parkdale in 2020 and the third floor needed attention badly. It was drafty, the bedroom was dated and dark and the ensuite was largely non-functional. I met with a couple of contractors and ultimately decided to go with Oriel after my initial consult and after receipt of their quote. I found I was immediately put at ease by Jacob (owner) who answered all of my question thoroughly, began issue spotting immediately, etc. His quote was clear and concise. The work his group did was excellent despite the challenges of working in a third floor space of a very old home. Every single person who works at Oriel is a delight to deal with and gets the job done through to the point of complete client satisfaction. I cannot recommend Oriel highly enough.

**★★★★★ — Cam Borody, March 2019**

> Oriel Renovations are our contractors, period. They are great. Very professional, competitive pricing and easy to deal with in every way. Jacob will come by and give you an honest quote with great design suggestions and the crew will be there every day to get the job done on time. We've done two separate projects with them and we were very happy with both. The first was a bathroom and closets of three bedrooms on our second floor. They were amazing. They did a great job and finished on time. They keep their work space clean every day and executed the plan we had agreed to. We used them again sooner than we had planned to for a basement bathroom and laundry room renovation and we were just as pleased the second time. All of their employees are professional, respectful and honest. We could not give them a more positive recommendation. You won't regret using them.

**★★★★ — harmen\_meinders, March 2019**

> Oriel completed a renovation on the main floor if a detached bungalow.
> The reno includes new hardwood floors throughout, removal of a load bearing wall (replaced with a beam hidden in the ceiling) and relocation of the kitchen from one side of the house to the other.
> The contractor was responsive to queries and questions and responded in a timely manner.
> The trades were professional and respectful.
> Extras were discussed and negotiated before any extra work was started.
> The job was completed within the original quoted timeline.
> I would work with and recommend Oriel for any home reno work.

  - Description: For this century home in the westend of Toronto, the owners needed a more functional kitchen and wanted a more connected and modern space. - Description: Kevin and Shanna’s residence, a three-story semi-detached home, had slowly become a fragmented and dimly lit collection of spaces. Unique for a laneway house, the house has windows on all sides, bringing in an abundance of natural light while also interacting with the life of a city laneway. The "lit" house at night makes it obvious that this is an inhabited living space, occupants becoming part of the neighbourhood rather than tucked away in secret. The ground floor is a light-fill…

The floors creaked and were uneven, and the bathroom was barely usable.
