He worked extremely well and very closely with our interior designer to choose the following: styles and shapes of baseboards, crown molding, door jams and window frames, the doors themselves, cherry paneling in the living room, painted paneling and vertical beams in the foyer, wainscotting in the bathrooms; and newel posts for the stairs. Three items were not provided in our architectural drawings and the result of Walter's design effort for these items within the context of the house AND the execution of those designs in his shop is largely the reason our home is as lovely as it is. The visual result is pleasing and varied but unified and in keeping with the context of the house as a whole. Walter of course designed the painted L-shaped upper and lower kitchen cabinets on two walls; a large center island and a large ceiling-hung structure over the island to hold the exhaust fan above the range. He listened to all my needs and hit it spot on every time, anticipating my needs and making suggestions and recommending slight changes that vastly improved my initial concepts. Almost every item has just that little extra touch that makes the item unique and adds visual appeal. I loved the hardware he recommended and the one cabinet standing alone on the third wall finished in natural wood. The whole is very pleasing and I get many compliments on the cabinets for which I hasten to give Walter credit. While I know he had other clients and projects at the time, when I was meeting with Walter, I felt like I was his only client—he was always attentive and never rushed and could understand the result I was trying to convey although I lack the proper architectural vocabulary. Measurements were taken flawlessly so almost everything fit perfectly at installation. Where unforeseen obstacles impeded installation, Walter and his crew work tireless to overcome that obstacle. He and his crew honorable, talented and dedicated to doing things correctly. When we decided to finish out part of the basement in 2012 we had no hesitation about asking Walter Jaeger to build the cabinets and bookcases there as well. Thanks! A: Jackie, The sink was a Blanco B440294 MAGNUM Specialty Sngl Bowl. I am not sure if the product is still available. **Q: What wood species and stain is used for this kitchen?** *(in Photo Questions)* A: This Greene & Greene style kitchen is built of solid cherry. Boards used were 10" and wider which provides an ability to ensure all heart of the tree (as opposed to the sap) is used. In cherry the heartwood is a light pink that ages over time to a dark red. The sapwood in cherry is yellow and will always remain so only slightly intensifying in color over time. You can see this effect in what many manufacturers describe as "natural" cherry. No stain was utilized on this kitchen. If there are further questions about the kitchen please do not hesitate to ask.
