> We worked with Mighty House to remodel our kitchen and had a fantastic experience throughout. Our kitchen was completed in July of 2023. They are extremely professional, kind and managed the project well. Remodels are typically extremely stressful, but working with Mighty House made the whole process quite easy. They gave us recommendations for a designer and we worked together to come up with a plan. They provided great ideas and suggestions along the way. Once the project started everything was seamless even with a few change orders. They use project management software that provides an app to the client which really daylights the back end operations. We could see what was getting accomplished each day. We were able to stay in our home and the project site was kept clean and tidy. I highly recommend them and look forward to reaching out to them for future projects. We couldn’t be more pleased!

> We had a fantastic experience with Mighty House Construction. They found creative solutions for our kitchen and bath remodel and connected the upstairs to the downstairs to create a more open layout. They brightened and modernized our little house in a really thoughtful and environmentally friendly way, which completely transformed how we used the kitchen and entertained. After the remodel, our home was featured on the Seattle Green Home Tour. Mighty House is responsive, creative, and really committed to green home design and renovation. They are also really nice people and fun to work with. We cannot recommend them enough!

> We paid $5,000 towards "project development" with them, and after 6 months of getting the runaround, receiving very little communication, and endless flaking on calls and meetings, I finally insisted on seeing some kind of estimate/scope of work and received a 2-page rough estimate with very few concrete numbers and mostly materials allowances, totaling nearly double their initial verbal estimate to us.
>
> 6 months of hope and mental labor down the drain, and we're back to square 1. Except now we're also out most that $5,000 with nothing to show for it. Extremely disappointed, considering they came recommended by a design-build firm we reached out to. I question their ability/dedication to take on any new projects, particularly large ones. Prepare to pay a chunk of money to be strung along for ages, getting no concrete answers on budget estimates or timelines, while they figure out if they actually have the capacity or interest in working with you.

> Lack of communication and supervision of sub contractors resulted in ongoing issues on the project including the following:
> Concrete poured 2" too high
> Framing of addition was over 2" off level
> Siding removed from the existing home that was supposed to stay
> Skylight put in the wrong room
> Subcontractors left the site unsafe resulting in my dogs being poisoned
> Wrong amount of tile ordered and the subcontractor laid it anyway resulting in the tile having to be torn out, reordered, and reinstalled
> Windows were incorrectly ordered, twice
> Damage to existing flooring
> Cracked the bathroom sink
>
> Communication was non existent and Laura was often condescending, dismissive and her statements were untrue.
>
> Significant turnover in MHC staff so I never knew who was in my home.
>
> Contract is vague and written without specific line items resulting in items being deemed "not in the scope of work" after the fact and project left incomplete. When asked for copies of bids for the work, Laura refused.
>
> There's a non-disparagement clause in contract that tries to prohibit negative reviews online which violates 45b Consumer Review Protection act.
>
> I give one star for being able to get out of my contract and hire another contractor to finish/and fix all the damage done by MHC.

> Laura and Doug are wonderful people to work with.
> When I needed a new garage, their bid came in most affordable. They helped me include second use materials for ecological and financial benefits. I wanted some rather unusual details for a garage. Doug came up with ingenious ways to build what I wanted. The result is practical, unique and attractive.

> Mighty House did a great job with our home remodel. We trust their skill and integrity, highly recommend them and would gladly work with them again.
>
> Doug and Laura are responsive communicators, pleasant to work with, professional and capable, clear around budget. They delivered high-quality workmanship, and they gave us multiple good, creative ideas that led to structural/design elements we are really happy with.
>
> For numerous decisions over a period of months, they provided key info and perspectives around different factors – functional, environmental, aesthetic, budgetary – and then were totally on board to proceed based on our priorities. It was a good process, a good outcome, and we’re very glad we worked with Mighty House.

> After our original contractor couldn't do the job properly, Mighty House came and finish the project. In budget, on time and excellent care and workmanship. All the qualities you want in a contractor!

> I used Might House for a job and was very unhappy with how they handled my job. I would not recommend them.

**★★★★★ — Carla Fisher, Feb. 2020**

> This is my first time reviewing a business that I didn't hire, but I was so impressed with Mighty House's customer service that I wanted to let others know.
>
> We were looking for a green building specialist, which is hard to find in our area, and contacted them, but ended up being outside their geographic area. Nevertheless, Laura, the owner, found another green builder in our area and then sent our name on to someone with Ecobuilders Guild. She's put way more effort than most would into providing service for someone who will not end up as her customer. Thanks, Laura!

**★★★★★ — Andrea Lewis, Oct. 2017**

> Loved working with Mighty House. They brought great design ideas to the table as well as worked fantastically with a designer we'd hired. They helped us navigate the many product and materials choices so we both hit our price point but came out with a fabulous look and feel of our kitchen remodel, and did it all with the health and wellbeing of our family in mind, recommending high quality sustainable choices that we could feel great about. We couldn't be happier - just wish we had done it sooner!! .

**★★★★★ — Studio 8x3, July 2017**

> Doug and Laura have been wonderful to work with over the years. They are an experienced and professional team that brings calm and humor to the construction process. They are a great resource for green/sustainable building and produce high-quality work on their projects. We highly recommend Mighty House for your next home remodel project.

  - Description: Our clients, Kristen and Anthony, came to us with their sweet, mid-century rambler home in Columbia City, looking to open up the living room into their small, compartmentalized kitchen — a very popular trend back in the day but less useful to how we live today. As such, their goal was to create a flexible dining space, open the flow of the layout, and let in more natural light. With an out-of-state architect on the project we had to adapt our typical processes to flexible communication modes to…

Past clients—who had previously trusted us with two bathroom remodels and a challenging exterior deck renovation—reached out again when the wife’s aging mother decided to sell her Leschi condo and move in with family. ## Community Q&A

**Q: material used** *(in Photo Questions)*

is it a plywood kitchen? I made a table out of plywood and would like to have a kitchen with this wood.

A: Hi, thanks for writing, the wood shown in this project view is maple. We recommend checking out https://kerfdesign.com for similar cabinets!

**Q: Floor material?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Hi! Love those kitchen floors! What material/source are they?

A: Sorry Debbie, we checked but don't have that info on file still in that it was several years ago. Also Forbo changes their Marmoleum color choices annually so the best bet is to seek out and visit a local dealer to see this year's options in person.
