> I hired Customized Renovations (Brian Gray) for a kitchen renovation/cabinet replacement project and paid $28,186.80 before any construction began. I ultimately requested to cancel the project due to ongoing concerns with communication, lack of progress, inaccurate renderings, delays involving my insurance adjuster, and the lack of a clear plan for structural work. No materials were purchased, no permits were pulled, and no construction work was performed. I requested a refund minus any reasonable, documented costs for actual work performed, but the undisputed portion of my funds has not been returned.
> Key concerns from my experience:
> •I paid an initial deposit of $16,970, and Mr. Gray agreed to begin working on my project. After that, I did not hear from him for approximately two weeks.
> •It was not until I followed up that I was told there was a delay involving the cabinetry designer.
> •I later paid the remaining deposit balance of $11,216.80, expecting significant movement on the project, but that did not happen.
> •I provided the company with my insurance adjuster’s information on March 27, 2026, and reiterated on April 9 and April 10 that I needed the adjuster contacted. Mr. Gray did not make initial contact with the adjuster until April 27, 2026.
> •The renderings/designs provided contained errors and did not accurately reflect my requested scope.
> •The project included discussion of removing a structural/load-bearing wall. When I raised my desire for a structural engineer, I was told he had never had a problem not using one and that an engineer would only be retained if I insisted and paid an additional $650.
> •No materials were purchased, no permits were pulled, and no construction work began.
> •I was willing to pay for any reasonable, documented work actually performed. However, Mr. Gray did not provide documentation supporting the $2,500 he wanted to retain, and he has kept both the disputed amount and the undisputed portion of my funds.
> My experience left me concerned about communication, documentation, accuracy, refund handling, and the approach to structural work. I would strongly encourage anyone considering this company to get everything in writing, confirm permitting and engineering requirements in advance, and avoid making substantial payments before materials are purchased or work begins.

The truth is that you were severely disgruntled because we did not just agree to refund your entire deposit after we spent copious amounts of time trying to sort out your project and assist with existing insurance issues, which we did help to sort out.  You also do not want to take responsibility for the fact your project was delayed in starting due to the fact that you changed your mind several times as to layout of your kitchen. Either way projects do not always go perfectly so we want to thank you for providing your unique prospective and wish you nothing but the best with your future endeavours!

> The owner of the company Brian Gray was unprofessional and didn't complete the job. The interior painting was some of the worst I have seen. The work took double the time, they didn't clean up, and they sprayed paint mist all over my exterior garage door (because they left the door up). Plus, they broke a glass shelf (didn't tell us, but tried to replace it with lower quality glass) and decided not to finish lining some cabinet drawers included in the sales agreement; leaving us having to finish the work. These guys had not finished the work, however, the owner Brian Gray was requesting that I pay him the remaining balance (after paying half upfront). Please stay away from this company!!!

The truth is that your job was completed 4 years ago. We were paid in full and completed the job. We only painted your bathroom along with the rest of your home.  Your home was placed on the market within a few days of us completing the work and your home was a sold within a week!
