The relationships that I build are just as important as the plans I draw for them. I am a Purdue University Building Construction Management graduate with 22 years of home, remodeling and building industry experience. My career path started as a building material salesman, then a building inspector, then a project manager for a local home builder. Along the way I got frustrated with the quality of the plans I was working from and thought I could do better. For the last 18 years, I have been a residential home design/remodel consultant and business owner. I also have a passion for teaching the next generation of building professionals. In 2007 I went back to graduate school to pursue my MS and PhD in Construction Management Education. He met with us multiple times to help us explore different ideas and tweek them just right. It was an old neighborhood with homes 50-80 years old. We stumbled on a 1957 two story that had never been updated. It was being sold by the original owner and had fallen into substantial disrepair. > > We contacted Eric Holt Design to help us with a creative design, construction documents, and leadership in the construction. We met several times during the design phase. Eric was able to listen to what we wanted/needed and was able to dovetail it into a creative design. He also created a 3 dimensional model that was able to explain the plan to our entire family, including our children. Eric also led us through the vairance process with our county. He filed the paperwork and attended the plan comission meeting with us. I can't say for sure, but I suspect that the plan commissioners approved it quickly when they saw that it was an EHD project. > > The work included a complete gut including an entire new exterior and a new family room and garage addition. The work also included a new gourmet kitchen. Eric opened the design up and we have a modern floorplan that works with a 5 person family with kids 5-11. > > We are very happy with the house and look forward to growing old in it.
