> We had a fantastic experience working with Custom Contracting for our attic remodel/addition project. The team really took the time to get to know us and our hopes for the project -from overall design to every detail. They were easy to communicate with throughout, stayed on schedule and budget, and were flexible with our changes and requests. The subcontractors were all highly skilled and professional. We are thrilled with the outcome, truly life changing addition to our home. We have since reached out to Custom for additional projects and look forward to continuing to work with them in the future!

**★★★★★ — Dan Roselando, Feb. 2020**

> Our overall experience with Custom Contracting has been fantastic and we would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a true partner in your remolding journey. Our lead Carpenter Dave was awesome to work with and always responded to any questions or ideas we had. The overall team was very high touch and made what could have been a stressful timeline very manageable. We are very happy with the final product.

> Thank you so much! We appreciate the trust you put in our team!

**★★★★★ — Marlena Rupp, Jan. 2018**

> We are very pleased with how the bathroom turned out. Everyone who worked on the project was professional and responsible. Michael was very helpful and provided guidance that improved the bathroom. He was patient when we waffled on decisions or asked for unexpected things. Terry was conscientious and responsive; it was a pleasure working with him and his carpentry was flawless.

> Renovation of house; master bath, kitchen, front and back porch, custom mantle, new half bath, painting, all new doors, lighting inside and out

**★★★★★ — Douglas Burdi, Oct. 2017**

> We hired Custom Contacting to build a portico atop our newly constructed walkway this Summer. The result is a portico that has received compliments from many of our neighbors (including two architects) - the workmanship is superb. The transformation of our front entranceway has been breathtaking and we couldn't be happier.

**★★★★★ — Leonard Heinrich, Sept. 2017**

> Custom Contracting is my Go To remodeler, both for my personal projects, such as the new Kitchen, as well as my recommendation to other Realtors in my practice here in Lexington. Whether they are doing work for me, or for someone I have recommended them to, it is always done timely, with near perfection, on time and on budget!
> They are in my opinion among the finest vendors I have ever dealt with.

**★★★★★ — Mary Ann & Ed, July 2017**

> From design through completion everything was done very well and in a timely fashion. This includes all the smaller parts as well as the room construction. Our overall project included a number of pieces and they all flowed together smoothly. Custom Contracting personnel and all the sub-contractors were excellent, courteous and attentive. They were also fun to have around!

**★★★★★ — NC Goodwin, July 2017**

> Custom Contracting did a gut renovation of a small guest bathroom. I was very pleased with the process and the result – everyone is impressed when they see it. CCI was well organized, very helpful with the product selection process, and mindful of my budget limitations. They provided a detailed timeline of the project plan. Aside from his own hands-on work, lead carpenter Eric managed the sub-contractors and me – answering my questions, explaining the next steps, etc. Everyone who came to the house was pleasant and capable. The work area was cleaned at the end of the day. The quality of the work is excellent. I would use CCI again.

**★★★★★ — LC Terry, July 2017**

> We've had Custom Contracting do many projects for us – from small (built-in bookshelf; window trim replacement) to large (kitchen renovation) – over the course of the past 18 years. Their workmanship, timeliness, and service is excellent! We've referred multiple friends to them and will continue to do so.

**★★★★★ — Paula OSullivan, May 2017**

> Custom Contracting has a great team of lead carpenters and subcontractors who did a fantastic job on our renovation. The project involved transforming a playroom into a master suite (with cathedral ceiling), swapping a half bath off the kitchen for a pantry, and adding a mudroom, closet and half bath off the kitchen. New floors in our living room and TV room too.
>
> Their president sat down with us at the outset to map out the project and make it work within our budget. There were a lot of moving parts once the project started, and we were impressed with how well Custom managed the entire process. Very pleased with the final product. You can see how much they pay attention to the details at every turn, from the woodwork in the mudroom to the tiling in the master bath. And all the guys were really pleasant to work with. We can't recommend them strongly enough.

**★★★★★ — Heather Cooke, Jan. 2017**

> We worked with Custom for a remodel of our kitchen, family room, mudroom, and powder room. The kitchen was a gut remodel that included pushing back a door to a stairwell to enable a kitchen island in the space. They were wonderful to work with and it was as enjoyable as living without a kitchen for a couple months can be. Dave was the lead carpenter and he was patient and delivered on everything we wanted. The space is gorgeous and we couldn't be more pleased. We would definitely work with Custom Contracting again.

**Comment from Custom Contracting, Inc.:**

> Your vision and product selections make our work look good! It was a pleasure working with you and thanks for the kind words.

 - Description: When our clients moved into their circa-1920s home in 1993, it was the right home in the right location. But over a span of 30 years, they realized their home was in need of some upgrades – with a focus on a major kitchen renovation. The biggest upgrade to the kitchen is the cherry wood island. Eventually the time came for renovation and the first priority was the primary bathroom adjacent to the homeowner’s bedroom. Today the bathroom is fresh, new and modern! The original sloped ceiling and jetted tub are gone and the room is spacious. The window provides plenty of natural light. Highlights of the new bathroom include the large shower, Bertch cabine…

 - Location: Sudbury, MA
 - Photos: 24
 - Description: This farmhouse was built in 1810 and expanded in 1860. With its long history and charming period details like posts and beams, wood floors and brick fireplaces, the homeowners were very careful in their approach to remodeling. After initial renovations after the home was purchased in 2004 (including a half bathroom and the master bathroom), the homeowners were ready for a major kitchen renovation. They also wanted to build an addition to expand the kitchen and connect it with the family room. Do…

- [Expanding and Updating a Cape](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/expanding-and-updating-a-cape-pj-vj~3341704)
 - Location: Waltham, MA
 - Photos: 13
 - Description: When these Waltham homeowners bought their house in 2015, they were thinking ahead. The cape-style home is located on a double lot, so they knew they'd have plenty of room to expand. The final plan included renovating the kitchen, dining room and living room; adding a mudroom and two-car garage; and building a deck off the back. The original narrow kitchen didn't have enough space to accommodate something the homeowners really wanted: a large island. The solution was to knock down a few walls an…

Blending seamlessly with the original home, the 740 s.f. apartment includes a modern kitchen, bedroom, living room, office, and full bathroom complete with grab bars and an easily accessible shower. ## Community Q&A

**Q: Countertops** *(in Photo Questions)*

What is the name of your countertop?

A: Our apologies we missed this question. The counter top is Paradiso Classico granite.

**Q: POLL: Bunk bed or Trundle Bed?** *(in Polls)*

If you had to choose one or the other, which would you choose? Bunks are certainly convenient, but do take up a lot of space. A trundle is only there when you really need it. What do you think?

VOTE and tell us in the comments!

A: Chose bunk, but it really depends on the room and it's use. Kids room, the problem with trundles is having the floor space open when you need it without a major overhaul or the room and it can kill some under-bed storage. Bunks may take more vertical space, but can have lots or arrangement.

Trundles can work out great when a room is a spare, and depending on the style can roll apart or pull up together. You really have to look at your space and how you'll use it.

**Q: Adura - with or without grout** *(in Photo Questions)*

Is the floor in the kitchen grouted? Hard to tell from pictures. Considering using the product, but undecided on grout. Thanks!

A: Hi Tara,
This floor is grouted. You can see it a little better in the picture showing the pull-out next to the stove. The floor has a great feel to it and the homeowners love it.

**Q: What are the dimensions of this island?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Thanks for the inquiry on the island, it is really a nice piece. The island is 3x6, which includes a 12" overhang on two sides. It has a base cabinet with two drawers, one a bread drawer, and an under-counter oven. Hope that helps.

**Q: love these shower tiles. What are they made of and color?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: This is really a nice master bath shower. The same tile is used on the deck of the soaking tub too. It is a ceramic tile. The walls are Provenza Ego Ecru 6x6 w/ 3x6 deco strip, the floor is Provenza Ego Ecru 2x2 with Provenza Ego Ecru bullnose 3x12 on the base & edging.

**Q: dark island, light cabinets...rules?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

It seems all of the pictures of kitchens I like have dark cabinets on the island and light cabinets through out the rest of the kitchen. I'd like to do the opposite. Is there a rule against making the island the lighter color? What is the effect of this? Thanks!

A: Looks like we all have similar views - that other than obvious clashing of colors, it what looks good to you and what is going to make you happy in your kitchen. Another couple kitchens for inspiration. By the way love the mixed dark and light cabinetry in the contemporary Feeny and Hebson post.
