I had been holding onto an inspiration picture of an office for awhile, and after going to the local Remodeled Home Tours one weekend, and meeting and admiring the work of Michael McKechnie of Stonehenge Construction, LLC, we were ready to go ahead and build our new office. It ended up being more beautiful than my inspiration picture!!! > > Once we contacted Michael, he was very prompt in meeting with us. He took my inspiration picture, made some measurements, and came back with a design that we really liked. He understood everything we wanted and more!!! He offered some sage advice on aesthetics with shelving that went all the way to the ceiling molding, pull out shelving to hide our printer and router that we didn’t want showing, finishing touches, etc. He worked on ensuring that I got the drawer pulls that I wanted, the wall paint color was what I wanted, the desk top stain matched our current hardwood flooring, and that the molding all blended with the existing molding. I’ve never seen such quality carpentry and paint job…they were SPECTACULAR. From design through the final punch list, they handled all phases of the project. We talked to several contractors before we started but Stonehenge provided a superior design because they listened to what we wanted. After the construction began, they communicated with us almost daily about decisions and issues as they arose so we all stayed on the same page throughout the process. There were no hidden or surprise costs because they showed us all the costs up front and any change orders along the way, we signed off on. There subcontractors were all very professional and respectful and did quality work. I talked to most all of the subcontractors while they were there and made sure they understood what we wanted and I was never disappointed with the skill and professionalism they exhibited. One of the important aspects of our project was that you could not tell that our new addition was an addition. Now that it is complete, I would have to point out what we added on. It is not possible to tell the old from the new, which is exactly what we wanted. Stonehenge was not the cheapest quote we received for our project but in the end we got exactly what we wanted, and are very happy with the quality of their work. I suspect we would have paid just as much with other contractors because of hidden costs but we would not have been as happy with the quality. I would recommend Stonehenge to anyone interested in a remodel or addition to their existing home. In fact, we are already working with Stonehenge to remodel some upstairs bedrooms for our next project. **★★★★★ — P Wilson, June 2016** > I recently did a remodel of both my master bath and my powder room. I know what I like when I see it, but creating it is sometimes a challenge for me. Karen, the designer and president of Stonehenge, was wonderful to help lead me through that process. I must have had four different designs that I considered and she patiently advised me about each of them. She would meet me at the sub-contractors place of business to help me choose a counter top or a type of tile. If I asked for advice she was able to suggest ideas, but the final decision was mine. She came up with some very original ideas for my bathroom that I had never seen. I decided to incorporate them and I love them! My project manager was Eric and he was always attentive, polite and responsive to my needs. Having my master bath gutted was stressful for me and there were times I was on the "picky" side. He never became upset with me or acted like I was a "problem customer." The financials were handled in a very transparent manner by giving me a copy of the sub-contractors invoice to Stonehenge. I always felt like they were honest and truthful with me about everything and any difficulties that arose. Because of the plumbing in my bathroom, a pocket door could not be installed in a cost efficient way and we had to change to a barn door. I found what I wanted at an antique store and they made it work. The door looks amazing as do both of my bathrooms. Karen McKechnie and her staff were an absolute joy to work with. Every step from the beginning through completion was handled thoroughly, professionally, and in a timely manner. She provided us with a complete budget beforehand and we were given copies of all the bills afterwards. Karen has a keen eye for detail and, before the job even started, spotted some mistakes in my selections that we were able to correct ... which saved us a lot of money and aggravation. She was very responsive when I had questions -- no matter how frequently -- and explained things in a very understandable way. All of the start dates she gave us for her various sub-contractors were met and the job was completed on schedule and on budget. In addition to her knowledge and expertise, Karen has an incredible array of sub-contractors, all of whom have been working with her for years. Without exception, they were prompt, courteous, capable, knowledgeable, and extremely neat. Every one of them left things spotless when they were done. I cannot recommend Karen and Stonehenge highly enough. She exceeded our expectations and made the entire experience a real pleasure.
