**Q: Hate my new granite!!! I feel sick.** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I had my Latinum granite installed yesterday and it looks nothing like it did at the warehouse. Has anyone else ever experienced this anxiety afte having your granite installed? They still need to paint the cabinets and install thr backsplash. Maybe Ill feel different after it is finished but rigt now I am feaking out. :-(

A: I think it also looks beautiful.  Do you have finished photos with the backsplash & painted cabinets you could share:-)

A: With the mirror like reflection it appears to be a granite commonly Black Absolute.  Africa, India, and Europe have limited quantities of deep black granite.  Verona Italy, typically is the source for beautiful raw material (Blocks are exported to Verona, Italy).  Blacks granites like what appears in this photo are known as Belfast Black, Zimbabwe Black, Ebony Black, and Black Absolute extra.

What material and color are the countertops?

A: The countertops are difficultly not a natural stone (Different reflective property than stone) and concrete countertops are not typically found to be this white.  I am fairly confident it is an engineered stone such made from silica quartz.  

Silestone, Caesarstone, Cambria, Difiniti Quartz, Hanstone & Dupont Zodiaq, Technistone are the top  Engineered Stone (Silica Quartz Surfaces)

Does granite scortch?

A: In a kitchen environment, you would either need to be extremely careless (and place yourself in a dangerous situation) or purposely attempt to scorch granite using the tip of a torch. 

No, Most granites are silica type rocks and melt at above 1200 degrees and I agree with the last person the extreme heat could cause the granite to crack especially granites with a high concentration of quartz.

If you use ivory white for cabinets, would you use the same color for white trim?

A: The Ivory trim would look nice, but to add little more life and definition your cabinets you could try using a slightly cooler white, depending on the wall color you selected.

**Q: Granite direction....so Im using this stella verde.  It seems like we do do my kitchen in one sheet.  My fabricator is good, i trust him, but just wanted a 2nd opinion.  I have to turn a corner, and there will be a seam, is this going to be a problem?  The left side will be one complete strip no seams which I like and its a big run.  Then, from where the dishwasher is basically itll turn direction......its a 45 degree if anything....is that OK?  Its not so directional like most but I just wanted a few opinions. A: Switching directions on the stella verde is a problem.  The reflection on the stella verde will look different if the granite does not flow the same direction.  This is due in part to the fact that the large flakes of mica will appear to be a different color when the light is reflected at a different angle.  The difference will be most apparent where the upper cabinets are not blocking the light coming in from the window.
