### Reviews

**★ — fsceli, July 2025**

> We hired Ms. Cavanaugh for what we thought was a pretty straightforward kitchen remodeling, no changes in the general layout, just new cabinets, countertops, and updated appliances.
> She presented herself as a "one stop shop", and this was what we really needed because we are both busy with our jobs and could not dedicate the time to hire the various trades. Ms. Cavanaugh assured she has a suite of first class tradesmen who she had been using for a long time, and were used to work together. She also assured she would make sure they would coordinate the work seamlessly
> Since the get-go Ms. Cavanaugh showed a keen interest in having us making the purchases of the various items with the vendors she "highly recommended", while she was unable to produce a rendition of the project on a computer or CAD file, so reluctantly we started the project out of a piece of paper.
> When the cabinets arrived, we were dismayed in noting that the wood pattern was not what we expected, and definitely unappealing in our kitchen. Ms. Cavanaugh's comment was "you guys chose it, there is nothing I can do". From there things kept going downhill, and the tradesmen she hired were very well meaning, but grossly underperforming, and definitely not used to work together.
> No coordination of the work, no one taking responsibility for errors or imperfections. Uneven doors, drawers not properly assembled, uneven seams on the countertops are just some of the partying gifts from Ms. Cavanaugh and colleagues.
> At the end we were glad she disappeared with the work mostly completed, and we could hire professionals to fix the kitchen, including painting new cabinets.
> We are happy this story is over.

> Lorey and KBDC just completed a master bathroom remodel. It came out so much better than I originally expected. I would readily use Lorey and KBDC again and intend to for a kitchen remodel soon.

**★★★★★ — Sally Wister, Dec. 2019**

> From our introductory meeting onward, we were impressed with Lorey’s careful listening and well-organized, step-by-step approach to helping us shape our project. We felt confident that we were in good hands. The subcontractors were a pleasure to have in our 1780 home, which presented some challenges that were met with expertise and good cheer. Our new master bath is both beautiful and functional.

**Comment from Kitchen & Bath Design + Construction:**

> Thank you so much for your review. I thoroughly enjoyed working with you!

**★★★★★ — Jane Zande, Nov. 2019**

> We loved working with Lorey Cavanaugh because of one of her most endearing qualities: she is an excellent listener. From the very start of this process, she listened—from why we wanted to update our kitchen to what was important to us. She took the time to get to know us. When we weren’t always able to articulate what we liked in design, she was able to draw on what she heard and make suggestions that worked perfectly. She is also an amazing, talented designer. She can visualize what the new space will look like, and then work with her team to map out every detail and make it all come together. She contracts with true craftsmen who care about their work, so we are confident the work in our kitchen and bath is high quality and will last a long time. Having a Project Manager to manage the process was definitely a plus and lowered our stress levels. Lorey transformed an outdated space in our 1940s home to a beautiful, functional kitchen and bath that we love using and that fits nicely with the rest of our home. Lorey is professional, ethical, conscientious, creative, and a delight to work with. We give enthusiastic thumbs up and our highest recommendation!

**Comment from Kitchen & Bath Design + Construction:**

> I am so happy you are loving your new space! Thank you for your kind words. I love helping people bring the vision they have for their home to life. You were great clients and I enjoyed working with you very much.

**★★★★★ — Michele Farley, Aug. 2019**

> I am in love with my bathroom — all is beauty, luxury, charm and voluptuousness \[to steal from Baudelaire\].
>
> Lorey understood my vision — William Morris wallpaper/art nouveau vibe — embraced and enhanced it. She understands space and scale and makes the best use of both….and she’s wonderful to work with. Hiccups, of course, are inevitable along the way. Yet, for each one — something no longer available or on long, long backorder — Lorey same up with a creative, cost-effective solution that we ended up liking more than the first choice. Lorey is also adept at advising on where to spend money, and where to be more spare. And she surrounds herself with a strong, capable team of professionals. It’s little wonder she’s been in demand for more than 25 years.

**Comment from Kitchen & Bath Design + Construction:**

> It was a pleasure to work with you and your adventurous sense of style! Your bathroom came out glamourous and is a true reflection of your creativity.

**★★★★★ — . Mark and Pam Francini, June 2019**

> It was a no brainer to contract Kitchen &Bath Design + Construction to remodel our Master Bath after they redesigned our kitchen a few years ago.
> The Master Bath was small and required a total gutting of the room as well as knocking through a wall and taking away closet space. The transformation is remarkable. We now have double sinks, heated floors, and a walk-in shower that would rival any 5-star hotel.
> As the renovation to the Master bath was finishing up we decided to expand the project and remodel a powder room as well.
> Lorey's team is truly exceptional. Each one of the team takes pride in their craftsmanship.
> It was a pleasure working with them on all 3 projects.

**Comment from Kitchen & Bath Design + Construction:**

> Thank you, Mark and Pam! It was truly a pleasure working with you on your projects and appreciate you taking the time to provide us with a review.

**★★★★★ — Virginia Vocelli, March 2019**

> There was no question we would ask KB-DC to renovate our bathrooms after the renovation of our kitchen 4 years ago. Professional and personable, they are a delight to work with. Current with design trends, they are good listeners and respectful of our ideas. We were pleased with both design and construction. The work of their subcontractors was excellent. They often went above and beyond our expectations.

**Comment from Kitchen & Bath Design + Construction:**

> We loved working with you! We appreciate your kind words.

**★★★★★ — Richard Marone, Nov. 2018**

> Lorey Cavanaugh and her team at KBDC were exceptional in their attention to detail, concern for quality, and design work that really reflected our likes and needs. The end result is an outstanding kitchen that we are excited to be in every day! I would not hesitate to recommend KBDC to anyone, and have done so to my closest friends.

**Comment from Kitchen & Bath Design + Construction:**

> Thanks for the great review! We appreciate your recommendations. It was great to work with you.

**★★★★★ — Jennifer Geisler, May 2018**

> Lorey Cavanaugh and her team outdid themselves in the design and construction of major renovations to the kitchen and two bathrooms in our 70 year old house. The design is beautiful and functional, taking advantage of every inch of space available. The design flows so expertly it is hard to remember what the place looked like before Lorey worked her magic. The construction professionals were a dream to work with; highly skilled, responsive to unexpected issues (inevitable in a house that old) and willing to answer any question. We wholeheartedly recommend KB Design and Construction!

**Comment from Kitchen & Bath Design + Construction:**

> Thank you for your review and we hope that you will enjoy your new space for many years to come!

**★★★★★ — Theophilus Barrow, April 2018**

> We decided to work with Lorey and her team after our initial consultation. Their professionalism and attention to detail were evident right from the start, and continued for the entire project. Our kitchen was gutted down to the bare walls and then rebuilt following the very innovative design that KBDC created for us.
>
> The entire project lasted two months, and the project manager/designer, Paulina, worked with us every step of the way to ensure we were satisfied with the final product. Our new kitchen is exactly what we had hoped for. We will definitely work with Lorey and Paulina again for any future projects.
>
> Thanks KBDC!!

**★★★★★ — Kathleen Miklus, Feb. 2018**

> We really enjoyed working with K&B-D+C. From the meticulous design phase to the incredibly organized project management of demo, construction, and finishing, they made the experience as pain-free and professional as we could have hoped for. Our new kitchen and dining room is beautiful! Lorey had great ideas both aesthetically and practically, and she was easy to work with. The builder was incredibly talented as well as the other members of the construction team. We couldn't have been more happy working with this wonderful group of professionals!

**Comment from Kitchen & Bath Design + Construction:**

> Thank you for the review. It was our pleasure, and we are so happy that your new space is working well for you and your family!

**★★★★★ — Donna and Mike Downes, Feb. 2018**

> We love our new kitchen! Working with KBDC means partnering with true design professionals, single contact project management and contractors who put quality first. The level of detail in the design phase was outstanding and a truly necessary element of a successful project. Next up is the actual build, where you work with one extremely qualified project manager. All the the contractor scheduling, all your questions and concerns, go through the project manager who provides updates on how all of it is progressing with the project time line. The contractors are all true craftsmen. Kitchens are BIG projects and the structure, support, expertise and professionalism of KBDC ensure an enjoyable journey with BEAUTIFUL results! They receive our highest recommendation!

**Comment from Kitchen & Bath Design + Construction:**

> Wow! Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a thoughtful review. Our process is a time-tested and thorough one, and I'm glad that you outlined it so well here. We're happy you're happy!

  - Description: From cramped and outdated to spacious and stylish, this kitchen underwent a dramatic transformation. Our client came to us expressing the need to completely revamp her cramped and dated kitchen, wanting to give it a new, fun, Brooklyn loft vibe. The biggest undertaking of this remodel consisted of removing a wall between the kitchen and dining area, and relocating a window and the back door. With the space opened up, the kitchen became much…

## Community Q&A

**Q: Distance between the counter and the bottom of upper cupboards?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I'm wondering if the bottom of the upper cupboard interferes with using the prep sink faucet. Please tell me the measurement between the counter and the bottom of the upper cupboard.

A: Thanks for stopping by our Houzz! A typical measurement between the countertop and upper cabinet is 18". This can vary depending on the homeowner's particular wants and needs. This project is an older one of ours and unfortunately, I don't have the exact measurements at my fingertips but hope this is helpful.

**Q: source for wallpaper? thanks!** *(in Photo Questions)*

Love those birds!

A: Hi Sarah, thank you for reaching out. I was able to source that paper a couple of years ago through a local paint & paper company. I am sorry, but I don't recall the paper designer, but it was called "A Twitter". Hope that helps.

**Q: Backsplash Tile** *(in Photo Questions)*

LOVE this backsplash tile - can you identify it for me - brand/color? LOOKS GREAT!

A: Thanks! It is Ashlar "Luminous" 2.5 x 9.5 Brick Wall ceramic tile.

**Q: What color are these cabinets?** *(in Photo Questions)*

What color are the cabinets painted?

A: Hi, thank you for your interest in our project. These cabinets are Lunar Gray.

**Q: can you tell me the wall and cabinet color** *(in Photo Questions)*

Paint colors

A: Thank you for visiting us on Houzz. I don't know the wall color, but the cabinets are painted maple in Arctic White.

**Q: Can you tell me if the threshold was custom or off the shelf? Where?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Thank you for your inquiry. The shower threshold, wall cap and shower seat were custom, same material as the countertop.
