Since its founding in the spring of 1992, JDA Design Architects primary focus has been residential design & remodeling. A full-service architectural design firm located in the historic and vibrant Twin City of Minneapolis, Minnesota, JDA Design Architects has provided architectural and engineering services for our clients nationwide with residential design, construction management, and hospitality consulting needs. 

Our primary passion lies in visualizing & creating invigorating, functional spaces using the beauty & durability of natural materials, and incorporating special elements to achieve the most appeal from natural light. Through these methods, we have succeeded in creating a number of award-winning homes & have been published on a number of occasions.

Our other passion is for the people we work with. We engage with each client's ideas on a very personal level. This helps us to gather a full understanding of what the final outcome wants to be. Whether it’s a small cabin in the north woods or a kitchen redux here in the city. Learning how you live is very important to us.

Though primarily conceived as a residential design office, over the years JDA Design Architects has branched out into other areas such as small-scale retail and commercial work. We also recently completed a large hotel project located along the shores of Deep Creek Lake in western Maryland.

Our work in Log & Timber continues to be popular. And though a small slice of our entire repertoire, it remains popular as we realize more projects in the Great Northwoods of Minnesota & Wisconsin.

As we described our house, he immediately knew what we were describing. John designed a kitchen that is the envy of all my friends, including a fireplace, a counter that opens into the dining room, and my "smurf" baking center. He is creative and responsive to our questions, and also helped assure our contractor did the same.  He helped find just the right cupboards, granite, and even advised on colors. He is a five star kind of guy.

What brand/color is the stone?

A: Hi Ray, The stone is a thin cut veneer so that it required no additional foundation work. Its from a place called Hedberg here in Minneapolis. You can review their stock on the website.

A: Hi Mel, thanks for the question. The stone is quarried locally to our region here in the Midwest.. It is a thin cut veneer which means it does not require additional footing support, and can be applied in a number of locations.

A: Let me check on that Chel. Its a local thin cut veneer, same as in the living room.

Is it a Concrete counter? Who makes this sink?

A: Hey RLN, the countertops are a Mexican limestone. The sinks were found by the owner so I'm not sure where they came from but they are solid stone.
