### Reviews

**★★★★★ — Rex Brynen, June 2023**

> We had a kitchen and two bathrooms renovated by DIR, and we were extremely pleased with both the process and outcome. Seri and Roula were a delight to deal with--always professional, accessible, and responsive. They helped us through the process of making key design and decorating decisions. The work was done to a very high standard. And it all looks great! We would certainly recommend them most highly.

**★★★★★ — Gwendolyn Fox, May 2023**

> I don’t often give five stars reviews, but I couldn’t possibly offer anything less to Seri and Roula.
> From day one, DIR Construction and Renovation were a pleasure to work with. My husband and I had never taken on a massive renovation before and were a little nervous about the scope of our project. Seri and Roula took us under their wing and immediately put us at ease. They were always on time, always respectful, transparent, and patient. They were consistent and responsive, taking the time with each question and concern. Every member of the DIR team also offered the same high level of skill, craftsmanship, and professionalism. The quality of everyone's work was impeccable.
>
> Seri and Roula saw our vision for our kitchen and delivered what we had been dreaming of for so long. We couldn’t be more pleased with the process and outcome. I cannot thank them enough!

**★★★★★ — Michel, Nov. 2021**

> We added a dream sunroom to our home. DIR were there from the beginning with advice and help at every step. Their crew was professional and always arrived on time. They were very respectful and clean. In spite of COVID the project was completed in a timely manner. We would highly recommend DIR for all your projects.

**★★★★ — Scott antonation, Nov. 2021**

> Seri and Roula were a joy to work with throughout our major home extension project completed this past spring. They proved to be trustworthy, reliable and great communicators every step of the way. We even made some requests to help make some structural improvements over and above the original project plans which they helped us resolve. The end result is a home that has been dramatically improved both structurally and aesthetically at a reasonable cost. They were also very accommodating even through various supply chain and third party contractor delays beyond the control of all parties during a time of provincially imposed COVID-related restrictions.
>
> We highly recommend DIR Construction for your home project(s).
>
> Regards,

**★★★★★ — Pavillon Heights Condominiums, April 2021**

> Worked with Roula & Seri on a 3 bedroom townhouse (total loss due to a fire). They were amazing to work with, had excellent ideas and presented multiple options when making suggestions. They worked within our budget in a timely manner.
>
> We were extremely pleased with the end result and would definitely use them again in the future.

**Comment from DIR Construction & Renovations Inc.:**

> Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review Bonnie. We enjoyed working with you too. You placed your trust in us from day one and we felt that all the way through the project through. Please call upon us if we can be of service to you again.

**★★★★★ — Stephanie Arpin, Nov. 2020**

> I had the pleasure of working with Seri and Roula for a garage reconstruction and it was a positive experience from day 1. All of the steps were done with professionalism and all of the contractors were amazing. If ever there was a problem/miscommunication, Seri and/or Roula would be on top of the situation right away and we always felt reassured. I look forward to working with them on future projects.

**Comment from DIR Construction & Renovations Inc.:**

> Stephanie and Ben
> Thank YOU! We’re so grateful for the trust you’ve placed in us and and we can't find enough words to express how much we all, the management and the crew, enjoyed working with you and Ben. There is a special type of client that makes our work so enjoyable but you and Ben just raised the bar! We will always be at your service. Do not hesitate to call us.

**★★★★★ — pattybriskie, Oct. 2020**

> We hired DIR Construction and Renovations to complete a kitchen renovation project in February 2020. We could not have been happier with Roula and Seri. They were completely transparent with costs and time frames. They were genuinely excited by the project and strived to provide us with the best space possible within our budget. Roula gave much time and consideration to choosing materials with us, and let us take the time needed to make decisions. Seri is extremely conscientious and does indeed make sure the job is done right. We now have a beautiful kitchen that we love spending time in. I would highly recommend them for any home renovation project.

**★★★★★ — Sam K, March 2020**

> DIR was always very professional, producing high-end, quality work. Roula and Seri are very friendly and were always accommodating for our long-term project.
> I would definitely recommend them for any type of home renovation / addition project!

**★★★★★ — David Lorette, Sept. 2019**

> My wife and I have hired DIR for several projects in the last 3 years. It started when we decided to give them a try with a renovation to a basement bathroom. We were so pleased with the result and found the experience in dealing with them to be so pleasant, we hired them 3 more times for increasingly bigger projects. Full main bathroom renovation, complete basement renovation, new sump pump, new sound proof home theater room, roof replacement.
>
> Like many homes in Montreal, we were flooded in 2017. We had already used DIR 2 times before the flooding so when we called, they were at our doorstep the very next day. Their concern for our well being was real and genuine. It didn't take them long to identify the entry point for the groundwater coming into our basement and they were able to fix the problem and then did a beautiful job rebuilding our basement. When the flooding hit again in the spring of 2019, not a drop of water entered our basement. My wife and I were and are incredibly thankful for their expertise in construction and design.
>
> They won't just do what you ask, they will work to understand what you need to accomplish and then work with you to suggest the best ways to get it done right.
> The initial design stage is helpful and complete. They were always incredibly patient with our decision making process as we can be quite fussy, but they never blinked and supported all of our change requests and questions.
>
> It is rare to find such a combination of quality work, and personal, pleasant customer care before and after construction. I highly recommend them. The stats I have provided below relate to the most recent job we hired them for.

**★★★★★ — Erin Whittaker, May 2019**

> We highly recommend DiR Renovations for any project, large or small.
>
> Seri and Roula Gandhi are very professional, passionately detailed oriented individuals. Our project was very ambitious, taking a small bungalow and creating the house of our dreams. We added an addition to our home which included a designer kitchen, master bedroom and en-suite, with the entire house (including the basement) completely redone. When I start my day I feel in awe of what my husband and I accomplished, it was a courageous dream realized and we are so happy we chose DiR to partner with us.
>
> The project took 5 months to complete, and we never lost a single night of sleep. Roula and Seri made us feel secure every step of the way which really says a lot about who they are both professionally and personally. They are good, hard working people who have extremely high standards and values on whom they employ on their team. We were very impressed by their network of partnerships throughout our journey.
>
> We would highly recommend DIR Renovations for any project you have, and your dreams and vision will become reality.

**Comment from DIR Construction & Renovations Inc.:**

> Erin and Chad, thank you for taking the time to review us and for your kind words. You made our day! From the moment we met you for our first consultation, we knew we wanted to work with you. We too are in awe of what you accomplished but how you handled the entire process is what truly impressed us. Excellent planning, staying positive, staying focused. Seri and I can't wait to toast your new, beautiful home in that awesome kitchen! See you soon.

**★★★★★ — Adam Radomsky, Jan. 2018**

> I was more than pleased with the excellent work that DIR did to overhaul my bathroom last Spring. I obtained quotes from three contractors, and this one was in the middle, but what impressed me the most at the outset was DIR's obvious desire to produce something with which I would be happy. Although living through a renovation project is never pleasant, DIR showed up every day, explained everything to me clearly, and most importantly were incredibly easy to work with. Everyone was polite and friendly, and the project was finished on budget. The finished product was amazing (it really was exceptional work!), and the customer service was by far the best I have ever experienced. DIR will not disappoint; they have my highest recommendation.

**Comment from DIR Construction & Renovations Inc.:**

> Adam, thank you so much for taking the time to give us feedback and for the great review. Renovations are a disruption and we really try hard to minimize the inconvenience. We so enjoyed remodeling your bathroom and it is one of our favourite bathroom projects. You have great taste! More importantly, you were so easy to work with and you made everything accessible to us to get the job done right and as quickly as possible. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to service you and enjoy your new space.

**★★★★★ — Gary Smith, Jan. 2018**

> It was with great trepidation that we approached our idea of demolition and construction of a new main floor dining room and workroom in the new basement as we have never before taken on a project of this size, but after meeting both Roula and Seri who came to our house when we began the process of collecting estimates our concern was greatly diminished.
>
> Not only were they able to answer all of our questions, but they also have such a calm approach to their work with a strong current of passion.
>
> Once we made the decision to sign with DIR, we began to meet the different groups of their team and associated workers. They were all so very polite, conscientious, skilled and concerned with our wants.
>
> During construction, any concern or question we had was quickly answered or dealt with by the team.
>
> The finished product is absolutely beautiful and we are so pleased to have chosen DIR.

**Comment from DIR Construction & Renovations Inc.:**

> Thank you for taking the time to share your experience working with us and for the great review. We always appreciate all the concerns our clients have with home addition projects and we try really hard to make the process as comfortable as possible. It's a team effort down to the members of our crew. We so enjoyed working with you and Carol to help you achieve your vision and our crew still talks about the kindness you showed them. They are very spoiled and miss you very much! Wishing you many happy occasions in your new dining room and lots of fun doing what you love in your new workshop below.

Embracing natural beauty and traditional craftsmanship, the Craftsman look, as it is often called, is associated with handcrafted, clean-lined furniture, simple trims, “autumn” palettes, earthenware, metal works and stained glass. - Description: This basement had good bones…great space, moisture-free, warm, but it lacked a defined purpose and the aged interior finishing had to go. Furthermore, the adjacent laundry room was crammed with storage and the maze of exposed plumbing pipes was a bit overwhelming. We gutted the entire basement living area to framing and opened one wall to create a second access to the laundry room. Drywall was installed on all walls, ceilings, closets and staircase; a focal point was created with one wall decora…

We used the 12x24 size with a 1/16 of an inch grout line to give the walls the seamless, high end look of a slab. A dreamy Carrara-like pattern was chosen for the quartz on the corner shower bench and the vanity. The granite vessel sinks and slate floor and bathtub skirt provide nice contrast. Cool, chrome waterfall faucets com…

  - Description: Our clients desired to remodel the bathroom in their 100 year old home with a vintage look, while still giving the space 21st century functionality. The bathroom was gutted to framing and all the plumbing was upgraded with two new lines running from the basement. New drainage was installed for the sink, bathtub and toilet. More space was created with the removal of the partition in the toilet area. The subway tile in the wet area was also used to skirt the soaker tub and as wainscoting for the b…

  - Description: Very pleased to have worked on another project with interior designer, Rebecca Mitchell. Here’s what she had to say about the inspiration for this very unique, gorgeous bathroom. “Our client loved his new two-bedroom condo in Montreal's trendy St. Henri district, but was less enamoured with its dated Mediterranean-style bathroom. It was neither functional nor to his taste and so I designed this urban-meets-rustic-meets-relaxing bathroom retreat for him and the project was skillfully executed by…

## Community Q&A

**Q: What color is the wall painted?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I am painting most of my first floor Revere Pewter and wanted a color that would complement it but only be a little darker/deeper? What would you suggest? What color is in this beautiful room?

A: Hello Thank you for your lovely feedback. The color on the walls is Benjamin Moore CC-518. Here is a link https://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/color-overview/find-your-color/color/CC-518/escarpment?color=CC-518   The Revere Pewter certainly appears to be the same tone as CC-518 Escarpment and could complement each other but don't take our word for it as we are not colour experts. We find the Benjamin Moore consultants extremely helpful with these decisions so if you show them these two colours and how you propose to use them, they will guide in the right direction. Good luck with your project. I am sure your room will be beautiful.

**Q: Bedside tables** *(in Photo Questions)*

Where can I find those mirrored bedside tables? I am in the GTA and am willing to pay for shipment to Ontario.

Thank you, Laura Greer, lwgreer@sympatico.ca

A: Hi Laura, you don't have to go too far to get them! They're the Hayworth collection from Pier 1 Imports

**Q: what is the color on the wall?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Hi Thank you for your inquiry. We matched a desired Pratt and Lambert shade because we could not find this brand. The Pratt and Lambert shade is Windham 2297. We matched it to
CIL Gris Fossile/Fossil Gray 30YY 56/060 DL46B
It is a timeless color and goes with everything. Hope this helps.

**Q: What is the color of the paint you used on the cabinets?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Hi, we are back. Our interior designer has not been successful in finding the color as it was done several years ago. However, if you print the picture and take it to a Benjamin Moore outlet, they will be able to steer you in the right direction. Again, I apologize for this. We keep records of everything we purchase but in this project, the paint was supplied by the client. Good luck in your project! The DIR team

**Q: Did they also paint the trim on the 1st floor to match the remodel?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I have the same colored wood and am sick of the trim being the same....browned out...

A: These are new trims, but you can use a cover up primer sealer and paint your existing wood trims, or remove and install new trims, hope this helps

**Q: Did you paint the existing trim and sash white, or paint new trim?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Hi Thank you for visiting our page and your query. This door was installed in a second level addition to a bungalow so everything was new. We painted the new trim white.
