The home nestled in the Sierra Mountains at 7200 ft elevation cut into the side of the mountain. In working with Tad, we found he had the leadership skills to keep everyone informed, working together as a team to help deliver the best product to the owner. > This home had a crucial 30’ retaining wall, 4 stop elevator as well as many other detailed state of the art interior and exterior aspects requiring close attention. In addition to his architect role he was a project consultant who provided guidance in selecting my contractor, communicating with the timber frame company, civil engineers, inspectors, designer, and others. This site was complex which involved a 30% grade, large excavation of granite, retention, water drainage, HOA requirements, site elevation: 7700 ft, snow load, wind and temperature range. The house construction used advanced methods which included SIPs and ICF walls to provide superior insulation, HRV to provide energy efficient external ventilation, cold roof, 4 story elevator, \>10 zone radiant floor heating. Tad has a great eye for design and detail. He has a strong technical understanding of building science and is able to innovate on solving complex problems. He is willing to take feedback and modify his architecture details based on my desires. Tad is an excellent communicator and organized weekly meetings to make sure the contractor was on track and provided useful feedback for correct implementation. Of all the people that were involved in the project I trusted Tad's integrity the most. I always knew that Tad had my best interest in mind. Tad was critical in making this building project a success. He could have told us that our ideas were not realistic and pushed us into a more generic floor plan or he could have just draw up plans based on what we thought we wanted. But instead of being intimidated by our ideas, he leaned into the challenge. He asked more questions and encouraged us to create ideabooks so he could see examples of our style inspirations. Tad wanted to know how we wanted the house to feel, not just what we wanted our house to look like. He took the time to learn about who we are and how we will use different spaces in our home. The result was a thoughtful and stylish design that we will enjoy for years to come. Throughout the design process, Tad was mindful of our budget. He was quick to offer suggestions regarding alternatives for materials that would be within budget without sacrificing style. He was prompt and thorough in communicating with us and our builder. Tad’s knowledge of engineering saved us time and money as only minimal adjustments were necessary when the plans went to the engineer for review. Overall, we couldn’t be happier with our experience working with Tad throughout the design process.
