The workmen were courteous, professional and skilled. We truly worked in a collaborative manner to restore one of the City of Duluth's finest mansions. The scope of the work did increase but I always felt that we were being treated fairly. The workmen tuck-pointed the house and carriage house, restored the limestone terrace, staircase and sidewalks as well as rebuilding two chimneys and repairing broken or cracked balustrades. I am glad I went with Johnston Masonry. They are professionals and know what to do. When they were there doing the estimate they asked me questions about exactly what I wanted done and about my budget. They worked with me to keep the costs down, and they did the job for exactly the amount of the estimate. Johnston Masonry also worked with me on scheduling, I requested they begin the job after deer season and they were there the day after deer season. However, the mantels on both fireplaces are about 2 feet higher than the keystone where they were instructed to install them. Flashing on both fireplaces is crinkled and doesn't seal with the roofing material. Joel claims his men didn't perform the work, but still charged me for the work.
