**Q: Suggestion - door from garage to house** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hello Everyone
Recently signed contract  to buy our first new home. The construction has not started yet. The builder allows some customization in plan whenever possible.
One thing that has been bothering me is the placement of interior door from garage to house. In the builder's plan, the door opens into very small utility room which in turn opens into kitchen. Somehow I don't like this. We don't like to walk into the kitchen with our shoes on. Also coat & shoe closet is on the other side of the house near main front door. I have attached house plan to explain it better. I plan to add another door from utility room to kitchen ( (see attached photo with red line \#3)). With two doors into utility room, it becomes cramped. 
So I have been thinking about the alternatives. What do you guys think about replacing niche with door (see attached photo with red line \#1)? And then close the entrance from garage to utility room (\#3). We would like to know your opinions.

A: Through the Laundry Room is the best if no major remodeling is desired.  Two doors adjacent to each other in the Foyer is not practical.  Omitting the niche would hurt the look of an already great Foyer.  You always want to off load groceries, etc. through a Mud / Utility Room if possible.

**Q: Kitchen Headache** *(in Design Dilemma)*

i there. I am planning on renovating my entire kitchen and terrace and have been trying to come up with the best design and layout. I tried to do it on my own and came up with a peninsula layout and really wasnt convinced. I then went to two kitchen designers and after asking me what i wanted to include in the kitchen they came up with the almost exact same plan. I wanted to start the reform a couple of months ago but have had to delay everything until I can really make a decision on the kitchen, which also affects the outside design depending on the positioning of the door more than anything. So here are the plans i have been working on for the last few months...

A: Center the sink in the island. Never have a sink facing a wall especially when you want to be a part of company in your kitchen / dining room. Split the large appliances behind you with the cooktop / oven and microwave in the middle, by doing this the exhaust fan is against the wall and not in the center of a small room making it look even smaller. The seating at the island is great for guest and kids. If you need more storage a wide island would be preferred with two stools at one end with a countertop overhang. My thoughts.
