He is a master cabinet maker with creative vision who is more than willing to embrace a challenge. Robert listened attentively to my ideas for the 9X12' space then sat down with me multiple times to present design sketches that focused on a euro style esthetic and efficient use of space. Robert is a "tiny house" enthusiast and builder. His retail business, MTLD, carries scaled down, yet stylish, energy efficient appliances and innovative LED lighting which were incorporated into the finished design. My 100 yr old home held a host of surprises once the tear out was completed. Walls and corners out of plumb and out of square by as much as 2 1/2 " on some surfaces. I'm grateful that I had someone with the level of experience that Robert has to contend with all those structural imperfections. Apparently it was something of a nightmare to negotiate but it all came together perfectly. Once the cabinets were mounted and the appliances were in place, there wasn't 1/16th of an inch of wall space to spare! In answer to my request for more counter space, Robert created a tip up counter to the right of the dishwasher which folds flush against the side of the cabinet when not in use. He also created an extra cabinet under the kitchen window. This cabinet is secured to the wall but can easily be unbolted from the wall and rolled out of the way if I need to get a large item (like a W/D or water heater) into or out of the basement. The counter tops and backsplash are a material called SEMCO. It comes in an infinite variety of colors, is very durable, easy to clean and is heat resistant. Robert's artistic application of this product and his use of blended hues produced a mottled effect that plays off the colors in the cabinet doors. I think the finished product is stunning. Working with Robert was a pleasure. He is an honest gentleman with a great work ethic, a friendly demeanor, and a delightful sense of humor. He was very respectful of my home and cleaned up at the end of each work day which took some of the sting out of living in a construction zone. He was easy to reach by phone, he stayed within the agreed upon timeline and budget and he worked cooperatively with the contractor, plumber, and electrician to pull the entire project together.
