The reno included complete gutting of the unit, new wiring, plumbing, kitchen bathrooms, roof, and windows. Also included an addition to the exterior of the second floor. Alex Glegg worked closely with us and was prompt in all his work and responses. His plans and ideas were beyond what we hoped or expected. We had a major challenge because work done by previous owners without permits had resulted in square footage that exceeded CoV allowance. Alex worked very hard with us to prepare documents and a presentation to the City of Vancouver Board of Variance to request that we be allowed to not only maintain the increased square footage from previous work but also to allow a further increase in square footage. Alex attended the Board of Variance meeting with us and his presentation was highly professional and effective. The Board granted our request over the protests of the city officials. I am sure that Alex's confident, respectful and accurate presentation was the reason we won our appeal. From the beginning of the architectural drawings process, we were very comfortable with Alex's professional and easy style. Nothing deterred his positive outlook and energy. He also talked himself out of some work, recommending that we spend our resources on a designer we had hoped to work with. Part way through our reno process (when Alex's work was completed) we faced a challenge and went to him for advice. Once again he was calm and extremely helpful. His recommendation resulted in the best possible outcome for our project.
