> I have had the pleasure of working with John Beard and Dale Riser on a number of preservation-related and community development projects over the years and have found them to be committed, involved and professional in every respect. When it came time to take the remains of a 1922 bungalow and craft a new cabin out of the elements, we asked John Beard to create and oversee the design work. Through every stage of the process, we have been pleased with the talent and timeliness shown by John and the entire staff of Beard + Riser. Dale Riser transformed an unused corner of our church property into a tranquil, hallowed columbarium/prayer garden, and it was inspiring to watch him work with our priest and structures committee on that special project. I would not hesitate to use this firm again in the future.

The island is beautiful.  What is the stain color?  What was used to seal?

A: The owner selected the stain color.

**Q: finishing an attic** *(in Photo Questions)*

I have a 1909 Victorian with an unfinished, but well-insulated, attic.  I would like to turn it into a project room.  The roof is quite peaked, so there would be a lot of room on either side of the down slant for cabinets, drawers, shelves, etc.  I would need to add heating and cooling (I have a natural gas, forced air furnace).  Do you have any advice on what finishing the attic would do to the environment of the house?  I've been told that would cause ice dams in the gutters.  I was thinking of installing pull-down stairs since I do not see where there would be room for a staircase.  Any advice/examples you could give would be greatly appreciated.

You mention aluminum and fiberglass.  What is the ceiling material?

A: 5V crimp metal panel.

A: This was a custom design renovation of an existing residence, we don't do stock house plans.
