> I met Rachel at Knight's Paint in Grass Valley for a color consultation. I was hoping to find the right color for my mom's bedroom. I already knew that I was looking for something along the Teal spectrum, and I wanted it to flow organically with the other Benjamin Moore colors I'd used throughout the living space. I showed her photos of my mom's bedroom as well as the other colors in the house. It took her two seconds to come up with the exact right color for the room -- a color that I would have never been able to come up with on my own: Palladian Blue. My mom loves it, and the room now has a serene and lovely feel to it. I am so grateful for her help with this project.

> Highly recommended. I knew Rachel from California and when we moved to Italy into an apartment in the old part of Rome, we flew her over to help us decorate and outfit it. I trust her aesthetic sense, practicality, and experience.
>
> We have a classical art collection from around the world, so we needed a designer who would have the vision necessary to tie it all together, give it unity in our space. At times I could not quite visualize the impact of her recommendations, but I trusted her, and in the end, the results exceeded my expectations! The way she put together art, color, and light made each space in our apartment both inspiring and comfortable to live in.
>
> Rachel helped us prioritize and make decisions, pointing out what was worth the investment and what was not. She worked on the colors, of course, but also coordinated with our painter, electrician, cabinetmaker, furniture stores, and curtain makers. She established good communication with everyone involved and followed up on every detail.
>
> She’s not based in Rome, but somehow managed to find and procure all kinds of treasures—antique light fixtures, side lamps, curtains, down to the smallest details such as napkins, placemats, candles, and plants for every space with beautiful cachepots! I love the Afghan rugs and unique light fixtures she found for us.
>
> Finally, looking back, the very best thing about our experience with Rachel was that she was able to help me and my partner get on the same page and develop a shared vision. She listened and actually helped us articulate our own ideas!
>
> I’d highly recommend Rachel for any interior design project, no matter how complex!

> Rachel choose the colors for my old Victorian in Nevada City California which looked stunning and has now done the same for my new house in Santa Fe New Mexico. She's a dear!

> Rachel was a pleasure to work with and her sense of color was amazing. She helped us pick the right wall colors to brighten the home we purchased. The most amazing transformation was our front door. Rachel's eye to pick the perfect shade of "black" worked to complement the existing rock and house color while blending with nature. Thank you, Rachel!

> Rachel is outstanding. Her knowledge of colors is amazing. She is easy to work with. With her expertise, your project will look custom vs. run of the mill.

> We hired Rachel for our new home building process. Initially for help with paint colors her knowledge and help with the building process went far beyond. Helping us visualize the project from framed walls to finish, her eye for color and harmony was more than just paint color. Light fixtures and placement, flooring ideas, cabinet materials, to suggestions for furnishings and rugs, she helped pull our new house together into a beautiful place to live. We feel like we made a new friend. We would definately use her expertise again.

> We have used Sundance Colors are three different occasions and will use them again. Rachel is a complete pleasure to work with. She has a great capacity to ask all the right questions to make the vision for your project come to live with quality, texture, color, mood—beyond anything I could imagine on my own.
>
> Rachel is professional, elegant, warm and has treated every project as if it were her own home. She immediately instills a sense of confidence that I have not felt with others.
>
> We are exceedingly happy with Sundance Colors and recommend them to anyone interested in a high quality outcome that will not need to be redone, thus huge money and time savings.
>
> I did not take pre photos. About five years ago I sold the house that she helped me show room. It sold quickly, looked and felt amazing.
>
> Our nw home is completely remodeled with a warm cozy feeling all throughout. All of our guests comment on the feel and colors.
>
> Thank you Rachel. We will be calling you again for an upgrade on the exterior of our home.

> Rachel (pronounced Ra-kell) was the most amazing consultant I used in designing and building my new 1550 sq. ft, 2BR2BA straw bale house. At first I was a bit resistant, but my contractor prevailed that I at least listen to what she had to say. I am SOOOO glad that I did. her sense of color and ability to match it to my dreams and my environment were wonderful. The most amazing part of this experience was her idea to have a custom made hanging chandelier/light fixture over the kitchen island. It was a brilliant idea and has become the fabulous focal point of our main room (living, dining, and kitchen: a 27' diameter octagon). Every time I turn it on, which is almost all the time, I marvel at how much it has added to the warmth of the room. Do not hesitate to have her be your Consultant. You will NOT be disappointed!!!

> Raquel was easy to work with and helped to bring some life to our veterinary hospital. She came to us with many color swatch choices and worked with us on colors till we were all happy. I also used her for my house residence recently!

> After 20 years living in our Grass Valley home my husband I decided to sell and move out of the area. At the recommendation of Knight’s Paints in GV we hired Rachel of Sundance Colors to help us select the best color to paint our home. On site she considered every aspect of the house-size, lighting, shadows, tree coverage, curb appeal etc and the final color selection was given to the painters and the home colors turned out GORGEOUS!! We then hired Rachel to help us with staging our home. As we took notes she meticulously went through every room, closet and drawer telling us exactly how to organize and declutter the home. Ie. placing hanging clothes in the closet in color order, placement of towels in the bathrooms, using essential oils to help the home smell fresh and welcoming, Placement of furniture, which pictures to take down, etc We then went outside and continued with the outside of the house!! Most importantly. she explained WHY these changes she was recommending would help our home sell faster and for more money. We were convinced that the 4 hours she spent with us was WELL worth the fee she charged. We buckled down and did everything she suggested. When we were done the home looked spacious, clean and uncluttered. The yard looked colorful and inviting. The curb appeal was pretty and inviting. The great news is that our home sold in ONE day for over the asking price!! There is no doubt in our minds that Rachel’s staging is what helped it all to happen. We highly recommend Rachel to anyone in need of help with colors or staging. And personally, we totally enjoyed our time with her. She is thoughtful, kind, thorough and funny. We felt we had made a new friend!!!

  - Description: This was a great project. We were trying to blend modern almost Zen in tones with rural country - where the house is situated. The floor is a french white oak - distressed with uneven planks - which give the feeling of age and timelessness. The colors in the house are subtle with some strong accents in the color of the furniture.

They decided to renovate the house before selling, to actualize their original vision for their home. They did not spare any expense or effort. They hired me for the interior and a landscape architect to complete the landscaping, put solar on the roof, fixed everything, re-did all the floors, light fixtures and remodeled the kitchen and bathrooms for a new look. - Description: When I arrived to this home every wall was white, the carpet was white, and now they just purchased a white couch. The reason they called me is because the white couch (a white with yellow undertones) did not go well with the white on the wall. I gently asked if they chose white because they liked it or because they were afraid of making color decisions. "fear and lack of knowledge" was the answer. you are looking at the result of a client that took the plunge!

One of my mottos is "If you can't beat them, join them". There are three blue/greens in this bathroom two on the bathroom cabinet and the third on the wall. The chinese dragon never looked better. To connect it to the peach hallway, we added a complimentary burnt orange on the outside trim.

## Community Q&A

**Q: cabinets** *(in Photo Questions)*

Can you please give me the color info of these cabinets?

A: Would you be willing to share what color the cabinets are? Paint company and color? Thank you so much, Rachel

**Q: White wash plank ceiling** *(in Photo Questions)*

I know this is an older project, but do you remember what was used in the plank ceiling? Was it a pickling stain, whitewash stain, or just watered down paint? I would love to hear any advice if you remember this project. Thank you!

A: Hello Marta,
The stain used was a water based Arborcoat semi transparent - it was a custom mixed color.
When is comes to wooden ceilings - since the stain shows the underling color of the wood and that original color interacts with the stain and mixes with it - the only way to achieve a good result is to try it on the surface, and tweak the color a bit until the desired color is achieved.
I hope that answered your question. you are also welcomed to call me if you wish.
