> I wish I had read the reviews before hiring Eiland in January 2021 to repair a leaky chimney/roof based on a reference by a neighbor. He was nice to work with, prompt at getting a team in place and the work done—or so I thought. I paid him the full amount, but had leaks in new places when the next major storm came through.  He sent a crew out to do some follow-up. But next storm, still leaks.

> Contacted him In April 2022 and he said “Will get it addressed” but never heard from him again—no response to emails or texts. Highly unprofessional.

> Bottom line: I paid him $3000 for work that did not fix the problem he said he could fix, and then did not warrant his work as he said he would.

> We contracted David Eiland to remodel an older home. It was a $100k budget so he took $30k up front and started demolition. Within a few weeks he wanted the next $30k installment, so we paid. The pace slowed down immediately.

> He never pulled permits from the city, even though this was an extensive project. He used unlicensed plumbers and electricians. After 9 months of almost 0 progress we fired him. Our second contractor had to tear out much of the electrical work. In fact, the plumber who finished the job is also an instructor at a community college. He used David’s plumbing work in his classes as ‘what not to do!’

> garage which was, for the most part, a positive experience during
> construction. Completion date was November 2018. March 2019 I
> contacted Dave as a large crack had appeared in the brick mortar. Dave
> assured me that he would drop by. April 2019 I contacted Dave again,
> requesting he not forget about me and informed him another crack had
> appeared. Again he assured me the cracks would be fixed. My May
> 2019 text to Dave was ignored but in June he told me he would send
> someone out – possibly even the next day. July 2019 I specifically
> asked how long I needed to wait before getting angry – his exact words
> were “OK, I will launch a guy out tomorrow. Finishing a project where
> we are using mortar.” Nothing more frustrating than rearranging your
> schedule for someone that doesn’t show up……..
> It is now August – 6 months after I first contacted Dave - and no one

> things go smooth so that you continue paying - after the project is paid

> David extended out our back patio, added an area for our boat and a driveway pad. Our back patio was pooling up water badly. I called and he sent his workers out. They said they would have to create a new section of patio to fix it. I was not happy about that as we have one solid piece and it looks nice, except for the area where leveling was not done correctly. His workers said they would talk to David and he would get back to me. I never heard another word from him. My front area is cracking badly. Worse than the concrete that has been there 6 years. I also have a gas leak under my new concrete and the gas company asked if they had hit the line and repaired it themselves. I have no clue. I am not going to bother to call him regarding the cracks or gas line. If he really cared about his work he would have come out to my house to see the poor job done on my patio himself or even called to followup with me. I would just never hire him again.

> We have used Eiland Construction for 3 major home remodel jobs over the last 18 months. We are totally satisfied and have referred at least 4 of our friends to them.  Not only is the work done professionally, the workers are courteous and we have used some of the suggestions that Dave made.

> Mr. Eiland came to our home 14 days ago representing himself as a home inspector and general contract with many years of experience. He claimed he was in the process of working on a home dealing with the same issues we were experiencing and that he would do no “Up selling” that "EVERY ONE ELSE" does. That he was a very honest representative of his trade and could be completely trusted.

> The real truth became apparent within the first 15min of Mr. Eiland visit.

> We are in need of some new siding. Even though he claimed he was working on a job with replacing siding as we spoke, he had to stop and call his supplier to even ask and figure out what is available or even still being produced for siding.

> I asked about if he would replace the tar paper under the siding and any bad insulation like other siding contractors had said would be automatically done.

> He went into a whole tirade about how he would only patch the tar paper with bits of Tyvek where the paper was damaged. He said there was no need to replace the tar paper. It was start to become very clear that this guy just wanted to make things look good from the outside while he was there and take our money and run. Never mind what is going on behind that siding and the walls.

> We have a window that has a ton of water damage and he took one quick look and leaped back because of some of the mildew. Did not spend more the 3 seconds looking at it and just said, "It is your bad siding".  Yes it is the same wall that has the bad siding, but from a far away look, the siding around the window is not bad?  This is him being a home inspector?

> Then there are our two bathrooms.  The master bath has a shower where the tile is falling off because the home was built with just drywall. He said, "Yes the shower and bath need to be replaced". But did not offer how he was going to address how to guarantee that the water from the shower would not continue to seep from its location. He seemed surer that bathrooms should only last "20-25 years". I am trying to figure out why we would spend money to have a bathroom done not correctly so that it can be redone in "20 Years" or less?

> He never looked closely at things, even at the things we were pointing out. He kept saying he had our backs and yet after he left, he NEVER responded to any emails or phone calls asking for his bid. It was like he fell off the face of the earth.

> We would never have given this man any money. But because of lack of communication, our badly needed repairs have been put an additional month behind. We want all to read this to be very aware of whom he really is.  A very bad representative of the remodeling trade!
