Basement. What size?? Vanity- It’s peppercorn gray- w/ a white quartz. Walls- SW mindful gray (unless I go darker). LVP - gray/brown. floors. 4 light above mirror light (wish I would have done sconces). 9 foot ceilings Struggling on the mirror. Can’t find a good size anywhere without getting one custom made. Found a beveled 36x48 which is masked up. I wanted tall and pretty, statement but can’t fine it. Is 36” framed wide too narrow for 52”? What do you suggest? A: I had the same dilemma with my remodel. My master vanity area looked like something from an 80s motel. The builders grade cabinet was raised and a beautiful custom carrera marbel counter was added; the mercury glass knobs are from Antrhopology. I believe the mirror is from Wayfair - great price, beautiful showy piece. On the left between the studs, I found a wood frame niche with glass shelves that I use to display my various hair, face products, makeup brushes, etc. I would tape out a vertical template to get a sense of what looks best. I feel the horizontal mirror is predictable, but a lot of people do it and it looks good - for my space there's no question the vertical mirrow was the way to go. Hope this is helful. **Q: Need help with this "dead spot" in my house** *(in Design Dilemma)* I have an area that is no longer going to be my dining room. We are adding onto our home, so this entire spot in this picture will be completely empty.. And that's a fairly large wall. I don't want to leave it empty and want to put something cool right there. Any ideas for this space? A: Does this room extend from your living room? In other words, whats in front of this picture? Are there windows to the left of the pic? **Q: New use for antique china cabinet?** *(in Design Dilemma)* Any ideas for a new use for an antique china cabinet like this? Maybe in a different room? Or store something other than china? A: How do you feel about painting the piece? I know some people don't like painted furniture, but a light color paint would transform this piece. **Q: Kitchen backsplash** *(in Design Dilemma)* A: I think a 4x4 tumbled stone tile, very simple with perhaps some deco tiles here and there would be awesome. **Q: Finishing a guest room - so lost** *(in Design Dilemma)* I do not know how to finish this bedroom. I apologize for all the questions, but each change seems to create more questions. This was the bed more centered on the wall (need room to open closet door, so not 100% centered). The following pictures show where the bed is currently placed - closer to the window because the space next to the window just seemed to be wasted when more centered. I would remove the old chest, but feel the carpet is too long (from a designer & cannot be changed at this point) and the bed appears to be 'floating' without the chest to anchor it down. The carpet has a bordered pattern in the middle so I cannot turn it (I don't think). I had originally hoped to put a chair in the room, but I just don't know anymore. I do not know whether to go with white or dark nightstands (do I try to match the wood on the chest?). Depending on where bed is placed determines if I need one nightstand or two. Should I remove the bench? Should I try a grey (or diff color?) bench or even ottoman with white nightstands? A chair and ottoman? Then maybe mirrored nightstand? What color lamps would you suggest - maybe a glass type unless nightstand is mirrored? Thank you in advance for your help!! A: I like the suggestion of the bed in front of the windows, but there are considerations to this arrangement, such as are the windows well insulated so that it's not too cold to put your head there. Also, I get that you want to maximize space, however, since this is a guest bedroom and not a "functional" bedroom, you can luxuriate your guests with a beautiful space, and still have it be functional. The idea of a floor lamp on one side and night stand on the other is a good suggestion. I would tend to keep the paint colors on the light side and perhaps add pops of color with art on the walls. If you keep the bed away from the windows, the configuration shown by Susan 2494 is a very nice way to finish off the windows. **Q: Help With Fireplace Wall** *(in Design Dilemma)* I just moved into a 1 bd condo a few months ago and most of my budget went into furnishing/floors/paint and updating the kitchen. I'm happy with the current result but ran out of means to redo the outdated fireplace. I'm looking for some suggestions on ideas to revamp that whole fireplace wall. In terms of style I lean towards modern contemporary and retro. I'm open to many types of materials and textures such as wood, metal, stone and glass and perhaps that's why I'm having a tough time trying to pinpoint what I want. I'm hoping to get this wall done in the next couple of months. Any suggestions would be appreciated. A: Agree with suggestions to keep it minimal. A nice mantel, and a painted accent wall would be all you need. Live with the paint for a while. It's easy to add glass or brick or whatever........not so easy to take down if you hate it.
