### Reviews

**★★★★★ — SR, April 2022**

> Castle Construction completely gutted and remodeled our horrible 1970s master bathroom and also added a wall to make our too-big master bedroom into a more reasonable size, with an office. They did an excellent job, with thoughtful attention to detail, true pride of workmanship, and very professional and timely communication. It was as much of a pleasure as something so inconvenient can be! I often work from home and one of my favorite things about the professionals employed directly by Castle, as well as their subs, is that they were always friendly, clean, and respectful of our space. I 100% trusted them at all times to be in our home. And the result was beautiful. I highly recommend them.

> After consulting other construction companies, we chose Castle Construction for our major kitchen/living room remodel. We started the project at the end of July 2021 and finished mid October 2021. The transformation to our new kitchen/living room was very smooth and we are extremely satisfied with the final product. Jason was very helpful with all the questions (there were numerous) that we had during the process. We needed quite a bit of guidance as this was our very first remodel of this magnitude. All of Jason's crew were extremely nice and helpful as well. The quality of their work and attention to detail was very impressive. We were also pleased with the work and the responsiveness of the sub-contractors Jason chose. Jason was upfront and honest about any possible issues and additional costs that could arise during our project. Like most people, our budget for this project was not unlimited, and we believe Jason saved us money where he could. There was a time during our project where Jason was willing to come out on a Saturday to address an issue and another time in the pouring rain to fix a leak above one of our sliding doors. In the midst of a pandemic and many other on-going projects, we felt that our remodel did not stall unnecessarily and we stayed on a good schedule. Thanks again Castle Construction. We highly recommend you!!

**★★★★★ — Cristi Smith, Nov. 2021**

> There are seemingly a million decisions to be made on a remodel project and I very much appreciated and encouraged Jason’s input during the process. He was able to provide useful and insightful suggestions but at the same time was respectful of my ultimate preferences and decisions.
> Another reason to go with Castle Construction over other contractors is the fact that he has his own showroom where you can meet to go over your plans, and see real-life examples of cabinetry, countertops and hardware…not just pictures on Houzz or similar websites.
> Lastly, I’d like to say a word about the team of capable people he has assembled to complete the work. He has three full time employees who are professional, conscientious and personable. I enjoyed having them in my house every day during the process. Similarly, the subcontractors that Jason used to complete the countertop installation, tile, plumbing and painting were all topnotch. I had heard so many horror stories of people leaving messes, not showing up or doing less than par work that I was convinced that this was going to happen to me but I am happy to report that none of this was the case with my job. From start to finish I was happy and satisfied with both the workers and the work they performed.
> If I had any advice to those starting this process it would be this, use Jason from the very beginning. Use his architect, let him help with the design work and let him assist in picking out the cabinetry, hardware and countertops from his showroom. I wasted many months before getting started by pulling in others to do what Jason can coordinate very easily. Secondly, do your very best to foresee any and all additions to the project from the beginning. There are many things that we added during the process that we had initially not thought about (nor budgeted for) until we began the project. One example was the decision to relocate the plumbing through the ceiling instead of leaving it in the slab. We are happy with our decision to do this since the room was opened up and it made sense in terms of timing but it was not something we had originally thought to do when we started out. Lastly, until the COVid/supply chain issues are resolved if you are remodeling a kitchen I would recommend that you order your appliances right away. I ordered mine on 2.7.21 and as of this writing (11.28.21) I am still waiting for my refrigerator.
> Thanks to Jason and the whole Castle Construction crew for a job well done.

**★★★★★ — Ann Jenks, March 2021**

> My husband and I interviewed 5 contractors for our project which was a complete remodel of a 1960s condo. We hired Castle Construction, a decision we never regretted. The fact that Jason oversaw all parts of the project was a huge plus for us. His team handled every aspect from design to permitting to the build itself and he was so respectful of our budget as we worked with him in our choices of fixtures, cabinets, tile, etc. As the design was coming together, Jason worked to squeeze in every possible inch to provide as much storage and kitchen workspace as possible. His knowledge and expertise were evident throughout the entire process; he made great suggestions (things we never would have thought of) and we are beyond thrilled with the outcome of our project. The other huge positive was Jason’s team of workers. They were wonderful! Respectful, easy to be around, amazing attention to detail in their work, solid craftsmanship with no cut corners. At the end of every workday, the site was left neat and cleaned. The entirety of our project was carried out during Covid and Jason’s communication was great; he kept us informed of any delays and he did his utmost to keep us moving forward.
>
> We have been through several building projects over the years working with multiple contractors. Some were good experiences and some not. Jason was exceptional: professional, knowledgeable and someone we are genuinely grateful to have worked with.

**★★★★★ — Arturo, Jan. 2021**

> We had to do an emergency kitchen rebuild, due to a slab leak underneath our kitchen, which required tearing up the old kitchen. Jason and his team got on it right away, provided options for the redesign, recommended how to replumb the area to avoid a similar issue, and got us going. We finished the project on time, within our budget, and the new kitchen looks great.

> There are not enough positive things to say about Castle Construction, but I will try. We started off our remodel journey assuming things would be nice. I can honestly say that the final outcome exceeded my wildest expectations. The helpful ideas, honesty, and overall execution of our remodel process was excellent. From major decisions like cabinets or flooring to smaller details like grout color, Jason’s expertise and years of experience were extremely helpful. There was constant communication throughout the process which made me feel like I could really let go of control knowing that Jason was on top of everything. His team was not only professional and excellent at their job, but very respectful of our home and some of the kindest people we have met. I would 100% recommend Castle Construction and look forward to working with them again.

**Comment from Castle Construction of Santa Barbara:**

> Thanks so much Lisa we really enjoyed working with your family!

> We had Jason Tapia remodel our master bathroom. It was a complete demo and remodel. Jason walked us through the remodel at the outset, helping us with lots of decisions along the way, offering different options for different price points. And we were really happy with the design. He and his crew were incredibly kind and hard working. The whole thing came in under budget, on time, and they were patient with all of our needs along the way. Would hire again... will hire again when we save up for the office remodel.

**★★★★★ — Speedi's Dream Home, Dec. 2020**

> We hired Jason and his wonderful crew to do our 1960s bathroom. Not only are we very happy with the final result, but we actually enjoyed the process as well. The guys at Castle Construction are knowledgeable, hard working, kind, honest, patient (I ask a lot of questions), punctual, and great at the work they do. We also did our renovation during COVID restrictions and they were very respectful and careful to always wear a mask. Perhaps most unexpected, the initial estimate was competitive AND accurate. What more could you want from a contractor and crew?

**Comment from Castle Construction of Santa Barbara:**

> Thanks so much for the kind review. I really appreciate it ;)

**★★★★★ — Mark, July 2020**

> We highly recommend Jason Tapia of Castle Construction of Santa Barbara. Jason walked us through every step of the complete gut and rebuild of our house. Jason had excellent suggestions to make the most of our budget. This included removal of hazardous building materials used in the original construction of the house. Also there were many things that needed to be brought up to code. He took care of all the permits for the extensive project.
>
> Jason’s ideas and suggestions on the kitchen ,living area and bathrooms were fantastic. We would never have thought of the ideas he came up with to make the living space more useable. Jason had the designs for the kitchen and bathrooms drawn up on the computer so we could see what they would look like. Jason and his team are also up on the latest home electronics and technology devices including home security. He was more than patient with all of our questions with quick responses. The house has been transformed by Jason and his professional team into a beautiful home. Every aspect of the project has exceeded our expectations and met our budget. All his workers were very polite, worked hard and kept the work area neat and clean through out the completed project.
>
> In final words: Jason we can not thank you enough for all of your hard work to make our beautiful dream home come true.
>
> Thank you,
>

> Castle Construction did a terrific job for us on a complete kitchen remodel Including removing a wall and opening up into living area. They also added a Pella sliding glass door and more. Jason and his crew were always professional, courteous, and accommodating as needed. I highly recommend them!

**★★★★★ — HU-762286437, June 2020**

> I called castle construction, and the owner Jason came by on his way down to Santa Barbara to help me out, out of his own time he fixed my front door. He was very friendly and professional. I will be calling them back when I need anything fixed around my house. I recommend them.

**★★★★★ — Bessie Condos, July 2019**

> Great job again! They just finished doing the floor of my patio with flagstone and it looks great! Have used them to remodel my kitchen and to install new windows in my townhouse. Very professional and great people to work with! Highly Recommended!

**Comment from Castle Construction of Santa Barbara:**

> Thanks again Bessie! It's always a please to work for you

## Community Q&A

**Q: Hi! Curious about tub dimensions? Make?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Hi! Curious about tub dimensions? Make?

A: Hi there its been a while since we completed that project but I believe it was a 60"x36" tub

**Q: Hi! Are the outside 2 doors permanent/stable or do they move as well?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I have an alcove with a bed in it that I am trying to close off from the rest of the room, but have limited space for the width of doors needed to close off the space. Thanks!

A: All 4 door move, and are very stable.

**Q: is there a frame to nail the wood too?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: I am sorry, I don't quite understand your question. Can you explain further? What wood are you referring to?

**Q: Is there a track on the floor to stop the doors from swinging?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I tried to duplicate this in my mud room, but the doors seem unstable with just the top track.

A: These doors do not have a bottom track they did not need one and move very smooth. However I have had many others where we needed a guide. Route a groove in the bottom center of the door and use a knife guide Hafelle makes one that is nice. If you cannot fine one let me know and I should be able to get you a model number.

**Q: Where I can purchase the "double" track system?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: This came from Rustica Hardware. www.rusticahardware.com We highly recommend this company. They had excellent customer service and a quality product.

**Q: Beautiful job. How many doors slide on the closet?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Hi William, As to the weight of the doors I'm not sure we custom made them. If you look up the weight of a 7' solid core door I'm sure you will be real close in weight. We made them from 6 pieces of 1x6 t&g. There are tenons used to join the pieces but they cannot weigh much. For the hardware specs. above is my reply to someone else with the contact info for the manufacturer Rustica Hardware, wed site and phone number. They will have weight info. I know the hardware was more than capable of handling these doors. Hope this helps
