Tim and Chelsea McGovern design and remodel kitchens, bathrooms and more. They build all types of custom cabinets and make sure to work to your budget. Dream big with McGovern Woodcraft & Design.

Tim & Chelsea both graduated from Texas A&M with degrees in geology. Once the oil bubble burst in 2014, they were faced with the decision to leave San Antonio and move to Houston for new jobs, but wanted to preserve their way of life. After renovating their own 1936 home, neighbors came knocking for help on their own project, which pushed them to start a remodeling business.

Together, they can do all or part of the creative design process, including to-scale 3D sketches. Their focus is on custom cabinets, custom furniture, and remodeling.

Tim is originally from Corpus Christi. His dad's a Geologist, his mom is a Mechanical Engineer. And yes, he too is a Geologist. But his true creative center is fulfilled when working with wood. He loves the exacting process of building custom pieces and seeing them come to life. Precision is the name of Tim's game. The game of woodcraft, that is.

Chelsea finds inspiration in every home she meets. She's fascinated by the path homeowners (and their guests) take as they navigate around their home. She has a gift for seeing the unseen, and finding ways to maximize living areas so that everyone is at their best in their home.

For Chelsea, every home has a story that needs to be honored, and she loves working with homeowners to help them find their homes true north.

Reach out today and find out why San Antonio’s McGovern family can help bring your dreams to life.

**★★★★★ — HU-817970034, Dec. 2023**

> Tim Mcgovern did all of our remodel in our home. His work was exceptional and he was very professional. After 5 years, we required some touch up's because we noticed that some of the finish needed to be modified. . Tim responded quickly and refinished all of the cabinetry and no cost to us. The job was flawless and with his big crew, he was able to get it done in a very short time. We highly recommend his company.

**★★★★★ — HU-129240124, May 2022**

> Innovative! If you have an idea and it is not your normal, standard “run of the mill” construction, call Tim. He will take your vision and add to it with his own inspirations. Custom designs to fit unique spaces are not a problem.
>
> He can even arrange to have his band play at your open house.

**★★★★★ — Ram K, Oct. 2019**

> We used McGovern Woodcraft and Design for our kitchen and bathroom cabinets (we did a full home renovation). From start to finish they were amazing! They took time to meet with us on our schedule and understand who we are as a couple and what our vision was for our home. They have such a great sense of design as well as functionality which was so important for us. They really wanted to understand how we wanted to use our spaces so that when they organized the cabinets it made sense for us. The final product turned out beautiful. They were friendly and professional during the who process and were always readily available for any questions or suggestions we had. Working with them was one of the smoothest processes in our renovation and we were so grateful to have met them (as they are amazing people) and to have worked with them. We love our kitchen and bathrooms! Everything came out more outstanding than we could have imagined. Thank you for making our home feel like our home!

**★★★★★ — Adapt Architecture & Construction, Sept. 2019**

> The McGovern’s have become an integral part of our design-build team over the past two years. Tim and Chelsea and their entire team are easy to work with and make what can be a complicated piece of the remodel puzzle hassle-free. They pay great attention to detail and follow through with their turn-key product in a timely manner while always working with us to remain flexible and cater to the specific needs of each client and job which is so important to a successful construction project.
> Pleased to have completed half a dozen wonderful projects with them and we look forward to working on many more together in the future!

**★★★★★ — Lavender Design Group, May 2018**

> We used them to completely demo and remodel our kitchen. Down to walls! Really appreciated their design attention and 3D renderings to help us get going. We are very, very happy with the quality of our kitchen, and we enjoyed working with the McGoverns! How many people have their remodelers over for a glass of champagne at the end? We did!

 - Description: Tired of the gray/white palette of today’s trend, our client chose us for our true custom cabinet abilities and not being afraid of color. We worked together on the floor plan changes drafting up a new footprint for both bathrooms. And then went to work designing the tile patterns throughout the entire house. Custom made tiles were ordered for the kitchen backsplash. The rest were Daltile solid colors arrange in an intricate pattern.

This home, built in 1926, is solid cement exterior walls with cement cinder block interior walls on pier and beam cement flooring. We loved working with Lavender Design Group and Redondo Tile to create an artful kitchen that speaks true to the originality of the house and its owners artistic style!

## Community Q&A

**Q: Love the kitchen!** *(in Photo Questions)*

What color, brand is the backsplash?

A: The cabinets are painted SW Origami White and the backsplash is a traditional white subway tile.

**Q: Kitchen Baking Area - ideas please** *(in Design Dilemma)*

My daughter and I love to bake and since we live with my elderly mother who wouldn't do well with the chaos of an extensive remodel I'm hoping in the interim I can create a special corner for baking. We live in an old house and have an area of the kitchen that isn't really being used to its full advantage and shows where a previous window was covered up when our neighbors remodeled. One day we would like to put in wood flooring so want to keep that in mind when picking colors and finishes. Some of the things I was thinking
\- open shelving and glass containers for the staples like flour and sugar
\- somewhere for cookbooks
\- a flat counter for workspace (suggestions for new counter materials / colors welcome)
\- a tiled backsplash (to replace the existing 4")
\- refacing / painting / new hardware for the cabinets

The photos are of the area as it is currently along with some inspiration photos.

I would describe my style as transitional, but leaning more on the traditional side than contemporary.

I would love any thoughts and suggestions. Thank you.

A: Just finished final paint on baking station in a kitchen remodel.

**Q: Color of the cabinets?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I'm interested in knowing the color of the non-white cabinets. I'm looking for a gray-green that leans more green than gray. Thank You!

A: Try Sherwin williams: Chatroom (darker) or Techno gray (Lighter)

**Q: Need help on trim color for red brick house.** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Not red!

A: gray (not white gray but blueish earthy gray). and add a third color by adding shutters to the front windows...
Check this first photo out...
http://newlyweddiaries.blogspot.com/2010/09/outdoor-paint-inspiration.html

**Q: Kitchen counter top** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Need an inexpensive granite-like kitchen island covering.
Our kitchen island is 5' x 7', currently tiled. We would like to replace the tile but can't afford the bids for granite. What would you suggest?

Photo attached.

A: go to a fabricator and get an old "reclaimed" slab of granite from someone else's remodel. I visited several fabricators who had replaced "old" granite counter tops with new ones... its a thought, plus it gets recycled.
