Now the new one isn't looking so good. I have my single valve drip system set up for 60min a day and have Rain Bird variable 360 micro-bubblers (most set to around 2GPH). I just dug up a few and the first 3in of soil seems moist about 5 hours after being watered (I'll check again tonight). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Even any help with identifying would be appreciated. Queen Palm \#1 (2 years old): Queen Palm \#2: Queen Palm \#3: Plant \#1: I've seen this one fully bloom once and it was beautiful. It tried to bloom in mid-spring but has been crispy since the heat wave came. I suspect this one may be over-watered? Plant \#2: Had a few blooms on this one mid-spring which would open in the morning and close at night. Since the heat came some of the leaves have yellowed and the blooms mostly shriveled up and fell. A: Hi Richard. We are going to echo what a lot of people have already said here. The plant need to be watered deeply and not as frequently to get them looking healthy. What you are seeing is a combo of heat and water stress. The plants are getting water daily but the water is not getting deep enough on the rootball to keep them growing strong and healthy. We recommend backing your watering off to a schedule that will allow you deep water your trees and plants. It rinsed off the roof and cleaned all the dirt off the trees and plants. Nothing ever felt so good or smelled so sweet. It took the temperature from 111 down to 84. Thank you to the man up stairs, what a gift specially after last week. Sorry to my garden friends down south. But yahoo! A: Love the summer rains! Can't wait till the Monsoon sets in here. The trees and plants around the valley could use a few good soakings. **Q: Need help with my mesquite tree** *(in Arizona Gardening)* I have one mesquite tree that blooms beautifully every season with green leaves, but shortly thereafter (right about mid to end of June) the older leaves turn yellow and fall off while the new growth still comes in a vigorous green (they too will turn yellow and fall off in a few weeks though). It has done this for the past 3 seasons. I have increased watering and give it a deep soak for about 5-6 hours once a week. It also gets water on emitters daily as do my other mesquites which are growing just fine. It is just this one mesquite that has a problem. A: We agree with lazy\_gardens. It sounds like an awful lot of water for Mesquite trees. These are arid plants and like to dry out completely before each watering. May want to take them off the regular drip line and just hit them with the deep watering once a week right now. That should be plenty for established trees. One reason you may be seeing this with only one tree could also be that area is heavy in caliche which isn't allowing for drainage and your other trees may have better draining soil around them. Out here it is crazy, but you can have pockets of clay soil just feet away from good draining soil.
