Early in the planning stages, they became offended by a remark (we still don’t know what the remark was) that was made because we didn't understand the process. Our attempts to apologize for the comment that was in no way meant as a criticism or slight, and our attempts to clarify the process going forward regarding questions/ concerns about drawings were met with no answer and no clarification. Rather we were told that they could no longer work with us, and were sent an exorbitant bill for drawings they had sent to a structural engineer that had incorrect dimensions and hadn’t been approved by us. He came out promptly and scheduled the work for the following Monday. I was present for the actual work. James was friendly and did a great job replacing the damaged pier and cleaning up afterward. He even gave some advice for other areas in our home that we'd like to have redone in the future. We're very happy with the reasonable price for the work as well, and will definitely contact James first for our future bigger projects. > > Project 2 (2015): We wanted a fence to separate the front half of our property from the back. We hired James to build a cedar fence with gates and they look great! > > Project 3 (Feb 2016): When we purchased our home the mud room walls were covered in a mix of old street signs and dark wood paneling. It looked and smelled awful. We hired James to gut and remodel it completely including new doors and cutting in 2 new windows to brighten the space. They had it done in about 3 weeks and it looks amazing. After the remodel we installed shelving under a pantry under the stairs so all that formerly unused space is now useful. I had a very tight budget to work with and I wasn't sure I'd be able to pull it off. I was happily surprised by her creativity and the multitude of ideas regarding how to give old things a much needed face-lift and how to fashion new budget-friendly elements into the space. She also helped me with my biggest frustration, which was how to build in 2 very distinct and different sides of my personality/brand into my business office space and make it cohesive yet uniquely mine! I've struggled doing so in the past and have previously come up with a mishmash that doesn't represent me and feels like a waste of money. From the moment I explained what I wanted, Simone understood how to bring it all together and FINALLY make it happen. Her artistic, warm-sprited and enthusiastic nature made her the perfect match for me and my space and I'd definitely hire her for her expert design advice again! James pricing is so reasonable. Although, I did go over budget, that was because James was willing to help me create unique features in my house, that are not available without extra labor and materials, all of which, I knowingly chose to add to our budget. He and his assistants have become great friends.
