It is a short sale and has been unoccupied for a while so it needs some tlc. It's a 2 story. The main level has no bedrooms or anything just a powder room, laundry room, great room, kitchen, and living room. I absolutely love hardwood and slate but I am having a hard time deciding colors of walls and granite countertops to match everything. The cabinets are wood but they aren't a great color stain. I was thinking originally to paint them white and do a little sanding and dark stain on edges, now I'm rethinking that because I can't picture what color granite countertop will look good with a wood floor, white cabinets and slate backsplash? It doesn't add up in my head. Any ideas on either a way to restain cabinets or colors... Also paint colors for the walls, seriously any ideas here would be awesome. I am pretty traditional when it comes to colors, I prefer what I would call earth tones. I am seriously looking for any and all ideas. I can post pictures next week when we get the keys. Modern with a touch of rustic old fashion is ok, but rustic with modern is a NO. **Q: Stacked stone in the shower...bad idea?** *(in Design Dilemma)* I have purchased crema marfil marble as a stacked stone (see photo) for my master bathroom shower walls, 2 walls total, about 90 square feet. I am concerned about some of the comments I have been reading about the difficulty with cleaning the stone in the shower...should I keep it simple? A: Yes, you need to seal the wall with the water proofing material, and mold resistant hardy backer. The epoxy will take care the gap between them. Make sure that this stone are very tide together. Gap like a paper foil is not a problem for the epoxy. Gap of 1/8" will be a problem and look unprofessional. **Q: Pool or no pool?** *(in Design Dilemma)* We live in Massachusetts, have two boys, 4 and 9. The house we bought has a pool. My husband wants to get it filled in, I want to keep it. As summer is approaching, the discussion is starting again! The truth is, we do not use a lot. It costs a lot of money in terms of energy and maintenance, plus it is a lot of work. But I think it is pretty, the boys will be able to invite their friends over , especially when they are teenagers, and filling it also means money for landscaping. What do the houzzers ( especially real estate agents) think? Anna A: If you used 2 times a year, take it out. Insurance, energy and safety is a must consideration. For value$$$ absolutely NO. I work in this business and is not what pp are looking for.
