Many times you hear stories of how difficult it is to build a home and how long it took and how over budget it went. After locking down the design and quote we got a contract from them outlining every payment through the process and how long it will take. We finished on time and slightly under budget. Many times whenever we did not tell them what to do they would do something nicer than we would have even know to tell them to do. Hope to do some future expansion work with them! The home is 7800 sq ft total with 6600 sq ft finished area. Prior to this, I had several homes built in a number of cities, as my company relocated me. All homes built were fixed price. The home with Botsko Builders was “cost plus”, as was all homes being built in this area at that time. I was somewhat concerned, as this was totally new to me. Any changes to the home while under construction, were documented via formal “change order” along with cost overage. Obviously changes are something that must be managed tightly by both the home owner and builder, since cost overruns can get out of control very easily. Minimal change orders were generated. Mark Botsko and I monitored costs against budget each month, as invoices arrived at their office . It took nine months to complete construction of the home. At the end of the project, we were 1/2 of 1 percent over budget! The people at Botsko Builders were great to work with and very helpful, as we went through the entire complex project. The home is GREAT, totally custom, and of superior quality. New? The look is beautiful! A: Thanks so much. This is quarter sawn, reclaimed wood. It certainly adds a lot of texture and warmth to the space. **Q: Name of brick and mortar color** *(in Photo Questions)* Beautiiful exterior. Are building a new house and really want a light brick but it seems that it is difficult to accomplish. Thank you for any help/recommendations. A: Thanks so much. The brick is from Southland Brick. It is Silvercreek KS Acme. The mortar is Antique Ivory \#432. **Q: Loving these floors.** *(in Photo Questions)* Old barnsiding? New solid wood? manufactured? What is the finish? I'm looking for materials that will hold up against heavy traffic in a rental near the beach. Thank you. A: Thanks for your question. This is full thickness, reclaimed, random width, quarter sawn hardwood. We would recommend going with many of the engineered products made to look reclaimed.
