**★★★★★ — Barry Ebersole, May 2017**

> Greg worked closely with my family during design to explore our options and get us what we needed. The finished project is a testimony to Greg' professionalism.

**★★★★★ — Robert Dahl, May 2017**

> The project was design and construction of a new house on property along a river. I had a general concept for a river-focused layout and contemporary rural aesthetic. Greg totally understood the concept and turned it into a uniquely handsome, cohesive and functional design. We collaborated on the big ideas and small details throughout the process. Greg always provided me with interesting alternatives based on his research and thoughtful approach. This is a second home, so I was more interested in getting it done right rather than getting it done fast.
> Greg was also my builder, which ensured design consistency and high quality in the construction. I am very happy with the result, and enjoy that my family and friends consider the house a true destination for weekends. I named the house 'Alvhem,' which is Swedish for 'river home.'
> I highly recommend Greg Torchio.

**★★★★★ — Michael Whitehill, April 2017**

> I have work with Torchio Architects on projects requiring civil engineering and land surveying since they opened the firm. I have also had Greg and Joanne design my 24'x 60' machine shop and had them on several occasions design improvements to my residence. They have performed project management services and follow-up inspections to ensure the work was done to their professional standards. All jobs were well done and Greg and Joanne were extremely attentive to my and my wife's needs and expectations.

**★★★★★ — Alicia S, April 2017**

> We approached Torchio Architects with a modest budget and broad requests for a better functioning kitchen, more convenient laundry space, and more storage for household items. Torchio provided 3 appealing options that differed in square footage and style, on time and within our budget. The options not only addressed our requests but also went above and beyond them by imbedding good design elements that we'd never have thought of. Our small boxy house was transformed into one with appeal, character, and much greater live-ability! Family and friends say, "Wow! This looks great! How did you do this?" Thank you Torchio Architects.

**★★★★★ — Chriska Morgeson, April 2017**

> Greg Torchio helped us with windows and exterior residing projects. His knowledgeable advice
> helped us choose the best solutions and materials for our residence. Greg was very professional. We appreciated his skill and knowledge of new techniques, and ability to meet deadlines and budgets. We are very pleased with the outcome of our project.

**★★★★★ — Advanced Architectural Metals, LLC, April 2017**

> Greg has been very professional in his work to design a new home for my family. His effort to understand our wants and needs as well as complementing these with beautiful design has been a great experience.

**★★★★★ — Edward Lefrak, April 2017**

> Torchio Architects did a super job in revising and updating our house constructions plan after a fire. I highly recommend them.

  - Description: "Alvhem" means "river home" in Swedish and reflects the owners family heritage. The house overlooks the Corsica River, a tributary of the Chesapeake Bay. The parti consists of a classic “L” shaped plan with one leg being a living pavilion the other being a garage. The two are connected by an enclosed bridge that is an office. The inside of the “L” is a parking court from which one enters the house across another bridge. Simple shed roofs help create a human scale on the entry side and a large vi…

  - Description: The main house on this residential estate, originally built in 1987 by Greg Torchio and his Jersey Devil partners was almost totally destroyed by fire in January 2006. Torchio Architects along with John Ringel-Jersey Devil were called on to repeat their “once in a lifetime experience”. Torchio had saved most of the original drawings which proved to be a valuable resource. The foundation, some of the first floor exterior walls, the stone fireplace and chimney and some of the steel frame were salv…

## Community Q&A

**Q: The fireplace is gorgeous - design and material cladding.** *(in Photo Questions)*

I would love to what material was used to clad fireplace. It looks like concrete tile, but I'm not certain. Thanks so much

A: It is scored concrete block that was sand blasted in place.

**Q: Year this was built** *(in Photo Questions)*

It must be in description

A: Originally completed 1985 and rebuilt after fire in 2007.

**Q: Details about the sectional, please.** *(in Photo Questions)*

Size, manufacturer, cost

A: The manufacturer is De Sede and the model is Non-Stop DS600. http://www.desede.ch/en/products/Sofas/DS-600.  The cost depends on what leather you choose. What you see in the picture cost $20,000 in 1985. It was replaced in 2006 after a fire but I don't know the cost since I was not involved in the furniture purchases that time around but I would guess 30k. Each section is indivdually upolstered and they zip together so there is a lot of leather.
