We set about finding a contractor in our area. We had calls in to three contractors–did not get a single call back. > My husband found GALLAGHER CONSTRUCTION on HOUZZ.com, they sounded very good from–not only their positive reviews, but the fact that they responded to every single one! They are a father-son team–Jack and Ryan. > > I called them and got a call back within a day. We were getting ready to go on one of our walkthroughs before closing and I asked Jack if they would join us, so that we could point out the work we wanted done. We set it for three days from the call. Jack and Ryan met us at the home. They were prompt! We went through the home and discussed what we could do. Their input was so valuable. They then went through each room to be addressed–measured, and wrote down everything we had discussed. We got an estimate of the work about three days later. > > We pared down a little bit and arrived at an option that sounded great! They told us that they could start the job on our timeline (a couple days after closing), and be done 30 days later (before we were to move in). > > The first day they were scheduled to be there….they WERE! They immediately got to work getting rid of five (!) different floors that were in the home. They showed up every day, and whenever we called or texted them–they responded very quickly (never longer than an hour, and usually within 15 minutes). > > Every step of the way was transparent with GALLAGHER CONSTRUCTION. As per the contract, whenever a milestone was achieved–that portion of the payment was due, which is exactly how it should be, but a lot of contractors require payment in advance (never a good idea). As the job went along, we would check in periodically. We could see the quality of work and the care that they took in the details was exceptional. At the end of each day, materials were neatly organized and in one spot. We were not even living in the home yet, but their extreme neatness in doing this job was very impressive. The house had been inherited and was in poor cosmetic condition throughout. We brought in several contractors for estimates. Felt like a customer not just another project **★★★★★ — Connie A., April 2023** > I recently hired Gallagher Construction to add a patio cover extension onto my back patio to help block the heat from the sun into my master bedroom. They immediately scheduled a site visit to understand my request, and to review my existing patio cover that was built when my home was completed in 2021. We discussed materials, as I wanted the extension to look exactly like my existing cover. On the next visit, they took precise measurements, location of the support post, which was moved so as not to block the view of my backyard from the large picture window in the bedroom. They even took the time to measure out and place a temporary post so I could visualize the placement of the post, which I approved. Shortly thereafter, the work began and they carefully removed the rocks in my planting bed, and dug the hole for their footing for the post. After they poured the cement, they covered the area to protect it from the snow, while the cement cured. When the weather finally permitted (I live in North Idaho & the work began in the late fall/early winter) they were finally able to get back and begin the bulk of the project. Their framers were AWESOME, and fast! The roofers were AWESOME! And, at every, every single step, Dan, who oversaw the project, was right there, going over the tiniest of details with me, making sure that every little detail was EXACTLY as I wanted! From the post placement & size of the post, to the finished ceiling on the underside of the patio cover, to the flashing placement next to where the new cover abutted to my existing siding, and where the new cover butted up next to the existing patio cover, to the painting of the ceiling, to the stain color on the post and fascia boards, and even the size & shape of the cedar corbals that matched the ones on my existing patio, to the stones on the base of the pillar, to the paint color on the bolts on the post & corbals, every detail was covered!!! And, at each step of this process, they made sure that all leftover materials and debris was cleaned up, so that one could hardly believe that any construction project was taking place! The completed patio cover extension is so amazing, & matches my existing cover exactly, that you would think that it was part of the original home construction! I cannot say enough how much I appreciated their communication with me at every step, and how much I appreciated their concern that I was happy with every detail of this project. Dan, Jack & Ryan made me feel that I was part of their family and they truly cared that I was happy with the work that they did. In fact, I was so happy with them, and their work, that I have hired them to do two other projects at my home!! Prior to installation I need to choose a wall color. I am trying to get away from the warm tones like yellows and golds but I also need continuity between the countertop, floor and wall color. I would love your thoughts. I lean towards the blues and greens but want to make sure this won't clash.
