Steve Shaw, Principal Architect of shaw architecture, p.a., in Santa Fe, New Mexico, has been in building construction for 30 years. With an undergraduate degree in English Literature, he worked as a builder in New Mexico before studying Architecture at the University of Washington, in Seattle. After school, he joined a large firm to work on commercial projects, practicing in Seattle and the San Francisco Bay. Then on to a small firm on the Monterey Bay of California for several years. > Steve Shaw was such a pleasure to work with on our house. He had endless patience and was totally "unflappable", as another person has written, which were huge assets when working with clients and the builders. He is a great listener and truly allows the project to be a collaboration between the homeowner and the architect. He was able to guide and direct, but never insisted on his way. He heard what we wanted and took that and added so much more to it than we could have even imagined. Steve has a special gift of utilizing the views and the light in a place. He created a home for us that is truly restful for the soul.

> We were actually sad when our project ended which says a lot. Not only was he our architect but he also became our friend. I would love to build something else with him in the future!

**★★★★★ — Susan Phillips, Sept. 2015**

> Steve Shaw designed our remodel in 2005. We told him certain things that we wanted but he took those ideas and expanded the possibilities. We loved everything he suggested so much so that we did everything . We now have a fabulous house!!

> On the advice of friends who had used Steve Shaw with wonderful outcomes, we hired him to do a major remodel of our double adobe home. We were very pleased with Steve's professional, unflappable manner, plus the wonderful creatives ideas he came up with for problem areas. Steve worked every step of the way with the contractor to perfect the project. What a great architect, professional, and friend he is! We are very pleased with our home!

> We hired Steve Shaw of Shaw Architecture to design our home. Starting with a bare site and a brief list of "must haves," 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, etc., Steve worked with us through every step of the design and construction process to make our dream house a reality. His calm, calm. competent demeanor helped us to keep things in perspective during some rough spots and his wry sense of humor helped to defuse the tension in negotiations with contractors and suppliers. Steve consistently came up with creative solutions to any problems we encountered during the project. It has been nearly 10 years since we moved in to our home and we are still overjoyed with the way it turned out. We would certainly hire Steve again for any future projects we might have.

> We used Shaw Architecture when we built our home in Santa Fe in 2005. We also used them when we added a casita in 2012. Steve Shaw was a professional in every way. His plan for our home met our needs completely. We love living there. He made wonderful suggestions and when problems arose he was creative in solving them. We have complete confidence in Steve's abilities and trustworthiness. He wants to satisfy his clients and is a pleasure to work with.
