The GC is very personable but dont let that fool you, once we signed they rarely came by our job site. They sole sourced to a select group of subs that are sub par. Be very careful with this GC **★ — George Cosio, Aug. 2021** > The folks that work at this company are incredibly personable and very good at the sales element of their job. We contracted them for a large house renovation. When we originally contacted them they knew that we were planning on occupying the house during the construction, and while it wasn’t an issue before we signed the contract. After we started the project they all of a sudden changed their messaging telling us all the “problems” was our own fault for opting to stay in the house with complete disregard for any issues being caused by their contractors. In addition to that we had a whole slew of problems above and beyond the normal issues encountered with construction work. The general contractor barely visited the property (not even monthly) and during the project we kept hearing complaints from workers that they werent getting paid. We learned through our own experience that the general contractor had a number of issues with accurate accounting relating to the project finances. As a result we had to start de-scoping the project and start paying workers directly as we lost all confidence in a general contractors ability to handle the finances. Our original contract called for a project manager to be assigned at the project, the general contractor had some financial issues toward the end of the project and laid off the project manager. In order to get the project finished we had to contact the project manager directly. Our contract called for bidding of the work to be performed, the general contractor exclusively made the decision to sole source to select subcontractors. When we started digging into the quote we were receiving we quickly realized the GC’s subcontractor pricing was anywhere from 40- to 300% higher to comparable quotes we attained for the same work. We were in a cost plus contract, so naturally this didn’t make sense to us and frankly was concerning.. This was also a contributing factor into why we started de-scoping work from our contract. We lost complete confidence in the general contractors ability to represent our best interest and accurately account for the finances of the project. As the project closed and we confronted the general contractor with these issues he immediately became incredibly unprofessional. This is clearly a circumstance where good salesmanship is followed up with bad performance. At one point they even reached out to us with several thousands of dollars in unpaid invoices long after their certificate of occupancy had been fulfilled and the project closed. Construction projects are challenging, and we are not immune to the notion that problems will happen, unfortunately in this circumstance there was a pattern of ongoing issues that were really concerning. After working with his contractor nearly a year I am very confident in their culpability in many of the issues we experienced and would strongly urge anyone considering them to take a deeper look at another GC. **★★★★★ — Matias Torroija, March 2019** > We have done several jobs with Gaston and his Company and it was a great experience.
