The juxtaposition of books with antique wood is quite hard to beat. **Q: adding curb appeal to 70's mid century ranch** *(in Remodeling)* A visitor (a friend of mine) ran into my garage door and the whole door needs to be replaced. I've been wanting to add curb appeal and since I am replacing the garage door, I guess this is a good time to spend some money for improvements. This is my first house (purchased less than a year ago) and I am looking for some design advice. PO repainted the exterior in dark bronze and I added black frame windows and barn lights to bring a commercial look but I am not sure if I am going in the right direction. I don't have a good picture of the house on my phone but the attached photo should give you some idea. For the garage door, I was thinking a flush door with side windows but I am open to different ideas. What other things can add curb appeal? I can think of new siding, new front porch column & railing, or different exterior color, etc. The third photo is a porch column idea I found online. I would really appreciate your ideas! It’s a beautiful piece of land but.... the log home seems to have missed the mark. I have three major architecture/design issues. The front of the home, the 12’ covered entrance (I’m calling it the “tunnel”), and the lack of symmetrical design around the vaulted ceiling in the great room. These three design issues are just so weird and I can’t seem to wrap my mind around how to fix them. A: The "tunnel" doesn't look bad. It is certainly unique. You could consider reclaimed wood wall paneling in the interior to enhance the rustic, cabin design theme. **Q: To paint or not to paint...** *(in Paint)* That is my question! I am painting a feature wall in the Master Bedroom Black and am stenciling with silver paint. The silver paint will also be on the ceiling. The rest of the room is white with a shimmer coat. So do I paint the crown molding on the feature wall Black like the wall? Or do i leave it white like the rest of the room?
