moca23 - it stands for modern custom art.
We specialize in creating pieces of fine art for private residences and corporate clients and often work together with interior designers and architects.
The architecture and interior design of the space are important considerations for artist Tanja Caterina Eltze. Size, colors and techniques are discussed with the help of sample pieces during the creative collaboration process that leads to a detailed proposal before the actual work of painting starts.
Principal artist Tanja Caterina Eltze' s creations are found in art collections in the U.S. and Europe. Her often large scale pieces are modern and abstract. Tanja constantly develops new and surprising techniques that cannot be found elsewhere and collaborates with other artists if the desired look/technique is outside her repertoire.
Tanja looks forward to meeting with you to talk about your needs in a friendly, no-pressure environment. Our showroom in Oro Valley is open by appointment, but consultations are also held at the site where the future artwork will be hanging.
We respect and follow any safety/health wishes when coming into your home.

> We were so thrilled to work with Tanja and very happy with the art piece she did for us ! She is professional, thorough, patient, considerate, punctual, creative and artistic ! There is nothing more we could have asked for in an artist ! We were so satisfied with our communication and collaboration with her. **Comment from moca23:**

> I've known Tanja professionally for a few years, it was a great pleasure to work with her to come-up with two custom inspired pieces to fit a unique space in my home. I loved initiating the design concept together at my house and how she evolved it into something that fit the space. Her proposal was very clear and let me know how the process would go in creating something from nothing. She posted progress pictures and asked for feedback before finalizing.

**Comment from moca23:**

> Thank you so much Carly! I was honored to be able to create original art for your gorgeous home! This was such a fun project. I loved working with you and for you!

> We love Tanja’s pieces that she created for our home. This was our first experience of this kind and Tanja helped to make it an enjoyable process!

**★★★★★ — Barbara Heft, June 2019**

> I love Tanya's work! It adds so much to my bedroom - every time I look at it...whether a real 'look' or a glance it makes me so happy to have it in my room. From our first meeting it was clear that this beautiful piece of art was going to reflect my taste and personality. As time has passed, I'm growing to appreciate it even more.
>
> Along with this, I was drawn to a smaller painting that became an 'impulse purchase.' I'm not sure this is possible, but I love it even more than the larger one.
>
> Thank you for your contribution to my home!

**Comment from moca23:**

> Thanks so much Barbara! I appreciate your time and effort to write a review! I am sure it is helpful to other homeowners to hear about your experience.
> I loved the challenge of building a visual bridge between your own taste and the lovely antiques that are dear to your heart. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to work with you!

> Working with moca23 to develop a number of pieces for our home has been a wonderful experience. The principal artist consulted with my wife and me as to our tastes in design and art and she visited our home several times during the process which I believe helped her gain our perspective on the space. The pieces she designed are delightful and help add a personalized touch to each room in which they are hung. We enjoyed the results of the original project so much that we have additional work in the design phase now.

**Comment from moca23:**

> Thank you so much for your review and the pictures, John! I love working with both of you to achieve the goal of making your already beautiful residence truly yours and one-of-a-kind!
> I also enjoyed incorporating your favorite color into one of the eight pieces while still having the overall neutral and sophisticated palette of the house in mind!
>
> I am very excited about the upcoming outdoor-project! - Talk to you soon :)

**★★★★★ — Kelley A, Oct. 2016**

> Moca23 was professional and flexible to work with. We had 3 custom pieces made for our residence. The artist worked closely with us to create original modern art that complements and adds beauty to our home. We highly recommend Moca23.

> My husband and I are in love with Tanja's work! The experience from start to finish has been amazing. She has an excellent eye and isn't afraid to give you her opinion, which I appreciate. She completes the work in the promised timeframe and gave us the opportunity to see the work in progress in her studio. Such a treat!
>
> We're on our second commission of 4 more pieces for different parts of our new home. I'm going to need more wall space...she has so many interesting ideas and techniques, would love to have them all! You can't go wrong with Tanja.

**Comment from moca23:**

> Thank you so much Lisa!
> I LOVE working with you and Mark! The creative process of coming up with just the right pieces for your beautiful home is so much fun.
> Your material just arrived - I am so looking forward to start working on pieces \#4, 5, 6 and 7!

  - Description: The goal of this project was to create custom artwork for the new residents of a custom home in Arizona after completion of a renovation. The artist Tanja Eltze was inspired by various design elements in the space, the light situation, as well as the tastes of the two homeowners. While doing that, various challenges could be addressed like niches that asked for pieces in a specific format, as well as the flow of the house. One of the niches had a round shape, so a floating installation method wa…

## Community Q&A

**Q: POLL: Does Santa wrap his gifts? - Yes or No?** *(in Polls)*

If you celebrate the holidays with Santa, what does he do with the gifts he leaves? Are they wrapped and under the tree in the morning or does he leave them unwrapped?

Share your experience! (Photos encouraged)

A: Growing up in Germany, the Christkind would place the gifts under the tree on Christmas Eve, all neatly wrapped and then ring a little bell for the kids to know that they can enter the room and admire the lit tree and presents. My mother would then later salvage the paper and fabric ribbon for later use if possible (so we had to be careful not to rip the paper, which made the opening ritual of the few gifts last a lot longer).
These days I am glad for reusable fabric bags and paper bags. They are pretty, too and so much easier to use. We keep the tradition though not to open two gifts at the same time but to savor the moment and also enjoy watching someone else open their gift.

**Q: How to hang artwork???** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We have two matching pieces of art but would appreciate advice on how to hang them on our very large wall. (See 4 attached pictures.) Thanks so much!!!

A: Congratulations! This transformation is just phenomenal! Great vision!
If you can't decide about the artwork, consider an art-rail like they have in museums. It can be installed directly below the ceiling and is available in various colors like white or silver metal. I am just in the process of purchasing one for my house so that I can interchange the large-scale art I create myself without ruining the walls.

**Q: where is this painting from? Love this idea!** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: I also do custom pieces of modern art. Moca23 can be found on houzz or at www.moca23.com

**Q: Rusting Corner Beads in Florida House** *(in Home Repair)*

We built four years ago. Rust was coming through on the corner beads in some places even before the contractor signed off on the completed house. His solution at the time was to spray Kiltz on the rusting areas. More and more areas are beginning to show rusting beads. Before I Kiltz those areas, does anyone know why this is happening? The house is a split level. The rusting is happening on the upper level. We are sure this has to do with the high hunidity here in Florida. We are on a canal, and very near the ocean. We do have the windows open ~ especially in the Master bedroom, alot. So, my question is, is there something better to use to seal those corner beads than Kiltz? Would it be a good idea to use something like CLR to dissolve the rust prior to Kitlzing?
Is anyone else having this kind of problem?
Thanks!

A: Thanks for all the comments and answers. We are currently waiting for the recommendation from the corner bead manufacturer as to which product to use to prime. Since nobody I talked to has seen this problem before, I am wondering if a unlucky combination of materials could have caused a chemical reaction which would also explain the white marks we have on the paint now in the affected areas. If anybody readings this has had a similar situation and knows of the cause and best remedy, please let me know. @beyond specialty, I will forward your info. Thanks!
Oh and by the way I have learned in the meantime that vinyl cornerbead in Arizona is a bad idea since it crumbles and dissolves over time .
