We wanted to redo the old, stained, crumbling brick fireplace face in out 1908 home. The mantle was in good condition but we wanted to use tile in in a period-appropriate color to update the look. Clay Squared has period-appropriate collections to help you narrow down your color choices, and several sample fireplace layouts for inspiration. The tile color we chose was Jade Moss. We wanted to coordinate with some elongated hexagon-shaped window panes that flank the fireplace so we wanted to work the elongated hex tiles into the design. Louise designed a beautiful tile layout and suggested several area installers. We went with Hohn & Hohn and they did an amazing job on the installation. From start to finish, this was a project we were pleased with and our fireplace is now the focal point of our living room. Don't settle for mediocrity-color your world with tile from ClaySquared! **★ — DNJ Properties, April 2023** > Terrible quality of finished product. These tiles are sloppy and are all over the place dimensionally. We ordered over $2,000 worth of 2X2 tiles and installing them was tedious. Instead of squares, we got a fair share of rhombus tiles. Examining their product, I can see that the glaze slops over the sides and makes the final dimensions a wide range of sizes. Because this shop does not offer to put these on a web, the installation process was tedious. I estimate it took me about 50% longer to install than other backsplash, and this is even with the use of a laser level. We communicated with the owner, Josh, and he responded by cancelling the remainder of our order. While he did refund all that we had paid him, including installed tiles, he left us high and dry regarding the remaining wall. It was a childish response on his part to honest feedback to the difficulties his method of production provides for clients. We had not requested any compensation for our difficulties. We only ask that the next batch better reflect the dimensions. Luckily, we found a beautiful tile with a competitor. Our new tiles came on a web, dimensioned perfectly (although still hand cut and hand glazed), and highlighting the stained glass window we have in the room. Now we have an amazing accent wall and we are thrilled!
