## About

### Houzz Badges

Wilcox Architecture combines high quality design with personal attention to guide clients from site and building assessment through the design and construction processes. Tom Wilcox specializes in residential projects in all areas of greater Cincinnati including Amberley Village, Anderson, Hyde Park, Indian Hill, Madeira, Mariemont, Mt. Lookout, Prospect Hill, Terrace Park, Walnut Hills, Wyoming and Northern Kentucky. He has also completed multiple projects in Michigan. Tom has extensive experience with new homes, additions, renovations, kitchens, basements, porches, decks and historic preservation.

Wilcox Architecture was launched in 2001 on West Street in Mariemont, and moved in late 2010 to Hyde Park. Tom had previously partnered with Dennis Malone in the firm Malone & Wilcox, after working a number of years for Reno F. Runck III, Architect in College Hill. Tom’s past work experience includes historic preservation, municipal projects, nursing homes, restaurants, railroad structures and residential projects.

Tom has construction experience; he was the general contractor on a number of Wilcox Architecture’s early projects. This experience has served him well—he understands how buildings go together and puts together a very builder-friendly set of construction drawings. He also gets out to job sites frequently to make sure construction is adhering to the design, handle any questions that come up, and further develop his construction knowledge.

> Tom designed our outdoor three season living space. He listened to our ideas, made suggestions when necessary and checked in on the project regularly. It turned out to be a beautiful addition to out home. He was great to work with.

> In renovating our 125-year-old house, Tom provided great design ideas that maintained historical features but allowed modern conveniences. He designed a main staircase to replace one that had been removed when the house had been converted to a two-family years ago. He also used the space well to give us a master suite. And he redesigned the kitchen and basement stairs to give us functionality. During the project, he was on site checking specifications to keep the project running smoothly. I recommend Tom Wilcox and would use his services again.

**★★★★★ — Melissa Schmit, May 2013**

> We had an excellent experience with Tom Wilcox. We hired him to draw up plans for a Master Bedroom and Bath for our 1940's Cape Cod style home. Tom was extremely creative with our space and kept with the feel and style of our home. He was always professional, friendly, listened to our ideas and understood our needs. He was "spot on" when we were concerned that we could even afford such a project. He had a great working relationship with our contractor and the construction was seamless. We could not be happier with the end result. Thank You Wilcox Architecture!

Client and builder were very involved with the design process, and meticulous about the details. First addition is two stacked 'sunroom' spaces over a full basement, all connected by an elevator. Second addition is an attached garage with a family room above, accessed by an oversized landing on the existing house stairway. Third addition is a detached pavilion which functions as both a carport and a…

## Community Q&A

**Q: Can you tell me about the window?** *(in Photo Questions)*

We have a laundry room that we would like to have an emergency exit in. The problem is that the houses in my city are very close together and does not give adequate space for a landing and steps.

A: It's a crank-out casement window. I suppose if you wanted to use it as an emergency exit you'd need to order one with an extension arm (so it opens more) and have a drop-down fire escape ladder nearby.

**Q: Great drying racks!** *(in Photo Questions)*

Might you share the dimensions of the racks and shelf below? Thanks very much!

A: About 36" wide x 24" deep. Interior designer would have more info: https://www.linckinteriors.com/michigan-avenue

**Q: what’s the paint name for that blue wall color?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Love that blue wall

A: Benjamin Moore Newburyport Blue HC-155

**Q: Can you tell me what the countertop material is?** *(in Photo Questions)*

This laundry room is beautiful!

A: Black Soapstone.

**Q: What size is the sink?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Gorgeous laundry room! I would love to know the size of the sink!

A: Not positive, but I believe it's 18-21" wide.

**Q: Love the colors of this house! Could you please share the names? Thank** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Siding is pre-finished hardie board in boothbay blue, the trim is Benjamin Moore gardenia.
