## Community Q&A

**Q: Can anyone give me some ideas? We're stuck...** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hi,

My wife and I really like this open floor plan; which combines the family room, dining and kitchen into one great room, however we're not sure of the best way to make use of the space with furniture.  

Does anyone have any suggestions on how you would arrange some furniture in the family room area and around the fireplace?  We would like to have a flat screen above the fireplace; one that you can pull out and move left or right depending where you're at in the room.

A: I assume you already have that sectional, if not this is what I would do with the space. Move the dining area to the front of the house to balance the island (having two large surfaces right next to each other makes it feel odd) and center the living area on the fireplace. Also, use the main french door by the kitchen as outdoor access and basically   just use the other set as a window. Float the living area with space to access the door if you want it, but I doubt you really ever use it. The head chairs in the dining section could be used as the second set of chairs in the living area when not in use at the dining table.
