Born in the USA but raised in France, Douglas studied architecture and design in Europe before returning to New York City in Oct 2004. He worked for various architectural and interior design firms until he started Oblik Studios in 2010. We look to offer an enhanced creation experience where reliability, responsiveness and efficiency meet a subtle eye for design. We design and fabricate luxury custom metal furniture, furnishings, accessories, lighting and architectural metal components. Passionate about vintage furniture, antics and history we repair, restore, and modify all kinds of decorative and fine arts including cast iron and aluminum decor pieces. “Growing up on the rough coastline of Brittany I was always fascinated with the corroding effects of time and the elements on metals. Beaches and coves are marked with the natural patina of steel, copper, bronze and aluminum wrecks left behind by maritime history.” I thrive to express the sensitive experience and beauty of exposed aging metal and the stories that it tells. I combine functionality, radically modern lines and a taste for French country style with a strong vintage feel.
