## Community Q&A

**Q: Outdoor Ceiling Fan located in a high wind area** *(in Porches & Decks)*

Our ceiling fan has not faired well with wind on windy days.   In high winds it spins freely, a blade came off, and has marked up the ceiling (fan has only been in place 3 months).
We would like some solutions and ideas.

A: Some people are really weird.
I live in the Central Coast of California and have about 10 days a year of high enough winds to damage fan.
If your blades are short enough you can take a "construction trash bag" and wrap them. Tape shut the top so it doesn't just blow off.
If you have long blades that end up ~66" across then I haven't found a solution short of removing blades every time a storm blows through
