For over twenty-five years, our designers have taken clients' outdoor spaces and transformed them into beautiful extensions of homes and offices. Our goal is to create for our clients a space which evokes the emotion they desire by utilizing our experience and vision.    

Established in 1992, the ECLLD team is an exciting collaboration of talented, educated and experienced professionals led by Evan C. Lai.  Our team has experts with advanced degrees and experience in landscape architecture, landscape design, horticulture, lighting, and irrigation. We design, install and maintain gardens throughout the New York City metro area.

Our clientele knows that we will advocate for them to the Department of Buildings, Landmarks, and if necessary the Board, in order to create for them a unique, exciting garden that surpasses their expectations.

Evan graduated from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, CA with a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture. Evan has traveled extensively in Europe surveying its most renowned gardens.

> I enlisted Evan C. Lai Landscape Design to oversee a very large ( approximately 2500 sq. ft.) outdoor residential terrace space in NYC.  He designed and executed the entire space, including large pergolas and seating areas, built-in buffets with refrigeration, grill and dining space, large storage sheds, custom planters to line the perimeter, and light fixtures throughout.  Evan provided a marvelous selection of materials for decking and areas set-off with stone pavers.  He created a beautiful space even before the installation of flowers, plants and trees!  Evan, and his team, work carefully and meticulously, making sure everything is done right and to the client's satisfaction.  Evan continues to research new products that may be of interest, decorations during the off-season (when flowers are not in bloom), such as pumpkins and string lighting, so that we can enjoy our space year round.  He was also extremely helpful in selecting furniture and interesting outdoor sculpture.  His experience and breadth of knowledge is very impressive--as is his high standard to "get things right" and make sure that his clients are pleased.  Evan is a delight to work with, and I continue to rely on his expertise with all things related to the beautification of our outdoor space.  I wholeheartedly recommend Evan C. Lai Landscape!

> Turning a coop's roof into a roof garden is a daunting and expensive undertaking. Shareholder support for our project was mixed. Our board decided to take on the challenge despite reservations. Fortunately we connected with ECLLD who patiently guided us through the design process. Construction had a few hiccups but ECLLD worked with us to resolve the problems with little impact on the budget. The garden opened last summer (2019) on July 4th.  The result has been spectacular. Even the nay-sayers praised the result. This spring/summer (2020) the results have been even more amazing. Every week some new flora blooms evoking "oohs" and "ahhs" from the residents. ECLLD knows how to make a garden that will dazzle!
