**Q: A sliding barn door to span a 72" opening on an interior doorway.** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I need a rail length of 144 inches to use a sliding door in
the 72 " opening.  Can a attach two 72" rails side by side?

**Q: Framing Opening For A Sliding Barn Door** *(in Remodeling)*

We have a living room and guest room adjacent to our kitchen. I want to install a sliding barn door on the opening to make it more private when we have guests.  The door will slide left to right. The hardware needs to installed along the top of the wall, but there isn't enough clearance to the far left, so I think the best solution is to frame out the opening to 1)make the opening smaller 2) install a header so there is enough clearance along the top to install the hardware.  I've attached a diagram of how I intend to frame it. The opening will be about 6 feet wide when I am done.  

Do I need a special header to support the weight of the barn door? Can I put two 2X3's together for my header or do I need something more heavy-duty?  Also, if you have other suggestions on a better way to do this, let me know.  Thanks!

A: Not sure if you've already built your project, but you might consider doing double doors and then you'd only need half your opening width in wall space to the side the door will slide.

**Q: How much sloope can this style of boulder wall stabilize?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I love the look of this boulder wall that allows for plantings between the boulders.  What is the slope of the grade here?  Our yard has a 4' drop in some spots and I wonder if we can do this rather than a traditional boulder wall.  Thank you!

A: I assume there is weed mat beneath those boulders?  I’m trying to guess on the order of operations?  The boulders appear they are dug in and not just placed on top of the slope?  Trying to figure out in this scenario if weed mat is placed first on the slope and then boulders placed and then plantings?  How do you make the boulders look dug in with weed mat?  I can’t imagine you place boulders first on native soil and then weed mat around the already placed boulders?
