## Community Q&A

**Q: Small Shower Door issues** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hi everyone, I've been searching to no avail for the "perfect" shower door for my master bath. The width is 44" (small!) and ideally I'd like dual sliding doors with as little frame as possible. I'm finding this is a very difficult thing to find, as most doors don't even start until about 46". Aside from custom, anyone find anything similar? If I go fully frameless, I'm told the opening will not be more than 16" which is ridiculous.. I'm 5'1" and wouldn't be able to fit through it straight on. And since the bathroom is quite small, a swinging door isn't much of an option either.. thanks!

A: search Dreamline 44" shower door at home depot.com, many beautiful frameless doors available!!

**Q: Problems with Innermost** *(in Design Dilemma)*

My wife and I decided to remodel our kitchen using Home Depot’s Innermost cabinet line. The in-store display appeared of good quality construction and the frameless cabinets offered extra space. We worked slowly with a designer who was new at Home Depot. Upon closing our order, the Specialty Sales Manager also confirmed important items, like we had been responsible for our own measurements and were therefore liable for that, that we ordered a Maple wood cabinet and a painted finish, and we signed paperwork on these items. He also warned us to inspect the cabinets upon delivery and let Home Depot know if we had any problems and “they would take care of us”.
The nightmare…
3 cabinets were not delivered (1 on backorder randomly and 2 somehow got lost, we still don’t know where they are). 1 decorative end panel for our island was the wrong door style (their fault).
The rest of our cabinets… every single cabinet arrived in poor quality with multiple issues. Every cabinet had some level of edge banding that was either peeling off, chipped, or you could see the seam interface of two pieces. There was glue residue on the surface of the finished end cabinets and the interior shelving, along with glue globs oozing out seams that should have been wiped away before hardening. Several cabinets had large cracks down the major supporting side panels. Gaps or spaces between joints that were so large they did not meet cabinet code construction requirements. On several cabinets it was noticeable that repairs had been made, and the touch-up paint was poorly applied and did not match completely. The melamine shelves had chips in them. One of the large pantry doors was not fully painted around the edges… The list of problems was endless.
We contacted Home Depot as we wanted to return the cabinets. Home Depot put us in touch with Inntermost (Elkay). After several walk-throughs Inntermost offered to rebuild our entire order. After we talked to their plant manager, we did not find this acceptable. Each cabinet had 2-3 inspections stickers stamping approval of the quality of construction. If this had been 1 or 2 cabinets, sure-fix it. But with every cabinet, we have no doubt after a 3 week rebuild, we would be in the same place with more poor quality cabinets.
We called Home Depot corporate to try to return the cabinets. Eventually they offered for us to return the cabinets… for a 40% restocking fee!!! Im getting absolutely no where with Home Depot or Innermost. They all say they want us "to be happy with our cabinets".... but what they really mean is they only want us to be happy as long as they can keep our money!

Anyone else have huge problems with cabinet orders? What did you do to resolve it? Check out my pictures at http://www.houzz.com/projects/515687/Innermost-Kitchen-Disaster

A: yes, I heard they discontinued them in July. But, I never, as a hd designer, had an issue with them, loved their cabinets it was my favorite brand. the toe kick color was probably a designer error, unless it was just not sent. I like the colors of your cabinets.

**Q: Kitchen cabinets** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Does anyone have experience with Home Depot wood kitchen cabinets? HD says that Innermost and KraftMaid are their top lines. Thoughts or advice? Also, any comparisons to Ikea cabinets are welcome also. Thanks in advance.

A: philter25, I admitted it, btw, because everything I have posted is the truth, and what I believe to be true from my own experiences.
