I decided on Nichiha Sierra Premium Shake and Board and Batten profiles. The factory color selection was limited which led me to Carolina Colortones. The idea and process of prefinishing seemed logical to insure the best board coverage and quality control. Moreover, my project was far enough north that the Nichiha board and batten profile was not available in my area. Utilizing Carolina Colortones gave me access to this profile and a large color selection. > > I had many communications with Guy Campbell and even visited his facility in North Carolina. After months of doing my research I found Carolina Colortones. Requested some samples and we made our choice to go with the cedar look. Our builders contacted them to place the order so it would be here when they were ready. The siding came individually protected with a foam like wrap that unfortunately stuck to the siding and caused to delaminate leaving white primer exposed. We also had a problem with the siding color matching once it was installed. Needless to say i was not happy with my builders or Colortones. After some pictures and talking back and forth, they provided us with a few gallons of touch up paint and covered the painters labor to touch it up. Over all the end product looks great! we are very happy with the appearance and hope to receive our warranty letter any day. The pictures look great and your warranty form has been sent out. **★★★★★ — Bruce Lafky, May 2017** > Carolina Colortones was a departure from the norm but living in the Northeast we wanted the best product and long term protection we could get which meant pre-finishing the cedar shingles we settled on. We also wanted to avoid staining after installation which we learned the hard way was a real challenge to properly finish between all pieces. We actually settled on two coats (both sides) and were very happy with the product quality and service. They delivered a quality finished product on an agreed upon timeline. There were no hassles or hidden cost although we did take expert advise and added a moisture wrap under the product. They were Great to work with and always available for updates or general information.
