He held our hand during the variance hearing and made us feel extremely comfortable every step of the way. He is extremely professional and his work is amazing. He listened to us and always guided us in the right direction. We completely trusted him and his suggestions. We highly recommend him. **Comment from Fortunato Architecture:** > Thank you very much or taking the time to review us. It was great working with you! **★★★★★ — HU-406508676, March 2022** > I had the opportunity to document one of Dan's amazing project. Wonderful work for both: the esthetics and the practical aspects of the home. While I was taking photos the owners shared with me how pleased they were to have done this huge home transformation with Dan. Not only he is an expert, he also really cares for his clients and makes sure everything goes accordingly to the plans, the timing and the budget. **Comment from Fortunato Architecture:** > Thank you for the wonderful review. We are grateful to have had the chance to work on this amazing project and to be able to work with the two of you! **★★★★★ — Debbie Vine, Nov. 2019** > I worked with the Architect Emily Mastropietro for our master suite addition to our home. Emily listened to our concerns, came up with the perfect design for our master suite. She made a lot of suggestions that worked so well with the space that we were creating. It was a pleasure working with her. Thanks Emily!! **★★★★★ — Stacey Cagenello, Oct. 2019** > We have used Fortunato Architecture on 3 extensive renovations over the past 15 years and highly recommend Dan and his firm. One project was a split level remodel, one was a ranch remodel, and one was a detached garage, workshop addition. Dan is professional, knowledgeable, and very timely in his turnaround time. We were able to share ideas with what we wanted and he quickly put them into action. His knowledge with specs and codes allowed for quick permit approval and allowed us to stay on track with our time frame. There were times where we wanted to make a few minor changes during each construction, and he quickly made this happen so work could continue on schedule. Dan came out to the work site and was constantly available as needed to assist in any way possible. Fortunato Architecture is a Top notch firm. **★★★★★ — Prathima kar, Sept. 2019** > We used Fortunato Architectural services to renovate our home. We have now completed work and are happily moved in. Dan Fortunato is extremely knowledgeable, experienced and reliable individual that believes in doing the best for his clients. As expected in any construction/renovation projects, we ran into issues after opening up the walls and during permit process. Dan & his staff are very responsive and always squeezed in time to ensure that everything was done right and to accommodate the demands of our township. I give thumbs up and 5 stars to Fortunato Architecture. You will be my first stop for any future architectural needs. Thank you Dan & Team **Comment from Fortunato Architecture:** > Thank you for the kind words. It was a pleasure working with you! **★★★★★ — Boris Meykler, Sept. 2017** > I had a set of unfinished plans done by a so called "architect". Township needed these to be fixed and after many disheartening quotes and sales pitches, this guy flew in like superman and took care of business. Very fair price, 100% professional and super fast turnover. Updates and any township concerns were addressed immediately. Should anyone ask me for a reference or if I do any future work, Dan is the only guy I'm calling. Thank you!! **Comment from Fortunato Architecture:** > Boris, Thank you for the design opportunity and the great review! **★★★★★ — Shauna Aherne, Oct. 2016** > Dan was referred to us by a close friend and the first thing I can tell you is, we are so happy she did! Dan worked with my husband and I on every aspect and was patient with us as we made changes and adjustments to the final plans. He is accommodating, available and always returns your calls. Beyond anything else, Dan really cares about his clients and is invested in delivering the best possible design for you and your family. **Comment from Fortunato Architecture:** > Shauna, thank you for the design opportunity and the great review! **★★★★★ — Debbie Koehler, Oct. 2016** > Dan worked off of a picture my daughter had researched as inspiration for redesigning the headboard to her bed. Dan used his contacts and found a barn that had recently been demolished and salvaged several wood pieces to create the distressed headboard. He went the extra mile and incorporated shelving between the wood slats as well. Not only did he design it's placement above the bed, he also did the installation. With the leftover pieces he fashion a rustic nightstand and holders for her guitars and makeup. **Comment from Fortunato Architecture:** > Thank you, Debbie. As always, it's a pleasure working with you. **★★★★★ — Jane Malone, March 2016** > We worked with Dan to design plans for our new home renovation. Dan is very knowledgeable, professional, talented, easy to work with, and most of all reliable. Designing a home can be very overwhelming but with Dan's vision and knowledge the process was enjoyable. We are so excited to see our new home and highly recommend Dan! **Comment from Fortunato Architecture:** > Thank you very much, Jane. It was wonderful working with you! **★★★★★ — mattzisk, March 2016** > We have used Dan for two large projects. He was able in both cases to start with our ideas (particularly how we thought we would use the space) and turn them into something both functional and beautiful. At the outset and as the plans evolved, he was collaborative with us and our builders and always came up with solutions that pleased all of us (and the township inspectors). > > His approach in many cases (in my and the builders' estimations) was to specify materials and engineer structures that exceeded what might be minimum requirements -- We are big fans of this approach, as it adds a safety and durability margin that means we won't have to worry the next time a hurricane comes along or a heavy snowfall sits on the roof. **Comment from Fortunato Architecture:** > Thank you for the review and kind words. It was a pleasure working with you! **★★★★★ — hdroadster, March 2016** > We recently completed our plans for an addition with Dan and had a great experience. Dan came recommended from a friend for whom he also recently completed a project. We had a couple design meetings where Dan listened to our ideas. We had some initial ideas but Dan came up with much better options. Dan very quickly created the initial drawings. We are very happy with the plans and they accomplished our goals. Once we settled on a final plan Dan also very quickly completed the final drawings. **★★★★★ — scalia, March 2016** > I have worked with Dan for greater than 5 years on my projects in Amagansett and East Hampton NY. Dan is delightful to work with and i true team player. From concept to build he is always available to answer questions. I plan to continually work with Dan on my future projects. **Comment from Fortunato Architecture:** > Thank you very much - we look forward to working with you on future projects also. ## Selected projects - [Pine Way Amagansett](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/pine-way-amagansett-pj-vj~1614929) - Location: East Hampton North, NY - Photos: 20 - [1845 Historic Renovation / Kingston, NJ](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/1845-historic-renovation-kingston-nj-pj-vj~7003188) - Location: South Brunswick Township, NJ - Photos: 23 - [Renovation of 1850's home / Amagansett](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/renovation-of-1850-s-home-amagansett-pj-vj~6844163) - Location: Amagansett, NY - Photos: 22 - [Contemporary White Kitchen with Exposed Wood Beam](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/contemporary-white-kitchen-with-exposed-wood-beam-pj-vj~1692158) - Location: Amagansett, NY - Photos: 2 - [New England Style Home](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/new-england-style-home-pj-vj~1692156) - Location: Amagansett, NY - Photos: 20 - [Publication Retrofit Magazine Summer 2022](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/publication-retrofit-magazine-summer-2022-pj-vj~7002562) - Location: Not specified - Photos: 3 - [Publication \| March 2021 Issue of Bridgewater Lifestyle](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/publication-march-2021-issue-of-bridgewater-lifestyle-pj-vj~6900588) - Location: Not specified - Photos: 4 - [Farmhouse Style Home](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/farmhouse-style-home-pj-vj~1764797) - Location: Lawrence Township, NJ - Photos: 1 - [Contemporary Patio & Pool in Franklin Township, New Jersey](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/contemporary-patio-and-pool-in-franklin-township-new-jersey-pj-vj~2016293) - Location: Voorhees, NJ - Photos: 2 - [New Home Construction Exteriors](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/new-home-construction-exteriors-pj-vj~1056037) - Location: Princeton, NJ - Photos: 4 - [Contemporary Outdoor Pergola](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/contemporary-outdoor-pergola-pj-vj~1687212) - Location: Voorhees, NJ - Photos: 4 - [Our Work](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/our-work-pj-vj~1687201) - Location: Voorhees, NJ - Photos: 11 - [Contemporary Outdoor Patio](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/contemporary-outdoor-patio-pj-vj~1764795) - Location: South Brunswick Township, NJ - Photos: 1 - [Outdoor Projects](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/outdoor-projects-pj-vj~1687209) - Location: Holmdel, NJ - Photos: 4 - [Outdoor and Kitchen Renovation](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/outdoor-and-kitchen-renovation-pj-vj~1687197) - Location: Branchburg, NJ - Photos: 4 - [Rustic Bedroom in Clinton, NJ](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/rustic-bedroom-in-clinton-nj-pj-vj~2129553) - Location: Clinton, NJ - Photos: 1 - [Decks & Porches](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/decks-and-porches-pj-vj~1056039) - Location: South Brunswick Township, NJ - Photos: 3 - [Traditional Dining Room Remodel](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/traditional-dining-room-remodel-pj-vj~1764791) - Location: Voorhees, NJ - Photos: 1 - [White Traditional Kitchen Remodel](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/white-traditional-kitchen-remodel-pj-vj~1764790) - Location: Somerville, NJ - Photos: 1 - [Traditional Kitchen Renovation](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/traditional-kitchen-renovation-pj-vj~1764788) - Location: Princeton, NJ - Photos: 1 [See all 22 projects](https://www.houzz.com/professionals/architects-and-building-designers/fortunato-architecture-pfvwus-pf~1545050573) ## Ideabooks - [danfortunato's ideas](https://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/49341408/list/danfortunato-s-ideas) — 1 idea [See all 1 ideabook](https://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/users/danfortunato) ## Community Q&A **Q: Updated Craftsman Home in Tenafly, New Jersey** *(in Before & After)* This is one of our favorite projects to date. This is a 1950s home in Tenafly, New Jersey that went through a complete home remodel. We added eight feet to the kitchen and a partial second floor Bathroom Addition. We removed multiple structural walls and reoriented the bedrooms on the Second Floor. The home now has a grand foyer and staircase. The clients wanted a transitional white kitchen and it really ties the entire home together. Style: Craftsman/Transitional Complete home remodel including wall removal, kitchen remodel, bathroom addition, staircase remodel. living room, and dining room. A: Great transformation! **Q: White Inset Kitchen, New York** *(in Before & After)* Closing the apartment service door improved the functiional layout. Cabinets, like family, are united in differing personalities, which can be seen here in their individual function, shape and decoration. The proportions of the cabinets, based on the Fibonacci Numbers, increase in size surrounding the hood focal point similar to the Taj Mahal. Notice that the low backsplash along the stove becomes full height behind the sink and architecturally lifts the glass cabinet to emphasize the taller ceiling area. The farm house sink is Vermont slate which contrasts with the granite counter. A: What a transformation! Great job! --- *Source: Houzz professional profile. Reflects the profile as of 2026-11-07.*
