**★★★★★ — Fiona Pradhan, Nov. 2017**

> We are thrilled with our new heirloom-quality table, which we designed to be the gathering spot in our newly remodeled kitchen. Working with Ian to select what kind of wood (we ended up choosing walnut), style and shape (living edge), material and style of legs (steel), was all super easy to do over the internet. And he helped us make decisions that helped us stay within our budget. I'm proud to be able to say it is handmade and that it's made of reclaimed wood. The grain is spectacular and looks different from different angles and at different times of the day. In the months we've had it now in our home, we have had numerous compliments from friends all asking where it came from. It truly is a usable work of art.

**★★★★★ — Micki Kallas, May 2017**

> Ian Grant created a most wonderful coffee table for me made out of part of root of a redwood. It's massive and gorgeous! Each time I look at it I find a new hue, curve or interesting character in it. I will never get bored with it! It was a logistical challenge to get it from the workshop to my garage on a pallet and then another challenge to find the right movers to get it into the house in one piece. It must weigh over 400 lbs! Ian even came to the house to help us decide how to best get it in the house. He was immensely helpful on top of being a great woodworker!

**★★★★★ — LiLu Interiors, April 2017**

> LiLu Interiors has had the pleasure to work with Ian Grant on several projects over the years. His remarkable craftsmanship and attention to detail have resulted in many unique solutions for our clients, as well as a custom table he made for our own design studio. Whether the project requires finding the perfect slab of wood or designing a custom solution, Ian's enthusiasm is contagious! He is a joy to work with and inspires and educates all involved. As interior designers, we especially appreciate his clear communication and desire to work through every detail to ensure our vision is realized. Ian's ability to approach a challenge creatively and problem solve make him an invaluable member of our extended design team. Many of our clients own and continue to enjoy the heirloom quality of the unique pieces created just for them by Ian and his team.

> I highly recommend.

  - Location: Minneapolis, MN

  - Description: This was a spectacular bookmatched walnut dining table with an ebony stain, and of couse a pretty stunning chrome stree leg base. The base was cut in three parts out of a 2" thick slab of aluminum on a cnc water jet machine. Then each piece was hand sculpted, cut, ground, polished, fit together, polished again and then sent to the chroming place. Honestly it's a ton of work and marginally enjoyable but totally worth it in the end.

  - Location: Minneapolis, MN

  - Description: A 10ft x 5ft quarter sawn cherry veneer done by a guy that does veneers for Steinway which I'm assuming makes him pretty good, the overall design was done by LiLu Interiors here in Minneapolis with a little help from us, and table structure and design us (we were the only people delusional enough to take on the project). The table opens up to 10ft x 7ft and the leaves store in a box under the surface of the table. And we carried it up 8 flights of stairs to the client's condo which has to count…
- [Walnut Stick Drum Tables](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/walnut-stick-drum-tables-pj-vj~2441232)
  - Location: Minneapolis, MN
  - Photos: 3
  - Description: These little drum side tables where made out of tons of scraps of walnut from all of our other projects. Now in designing these pieces, I thought using scrap meant cheap and easy with a good look. Not at all the case - at least from the work standpoint. Imagine all the various widths, legths and thicknesses and conditions of all of the cutoffs, then having to mill each one down to the same size and what you initially think is going to be a nice and easy reuse design project turns into this long…
- [Walnut Chunky Bookcase](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/walnut-chunky-bookcase-pj-vj~2441284)
  - Location: Minneapolis, MN
  - Photos: 3
  - Description: This seemingly simple, straight forward bookshelf was a little tricky for us. The client that commissioned it wanted us to make something that is on the one hand rustic and chunky, and on the other hand still refined looking. So we opted for using walnut rather than a more rustic wood like pine or fur, kept the raw edges but sanded them really smoothly, kept the thickness of the solid wood slabs of walnut, but hid the way it's all put together to make the construction look more modern.
- [Salvaged Monkeypod Chunk Coffee Table](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/salvaged-monkeypod-chunk-coffee-table-pj-vj~2441961)
  - Location: Minneapolis, MN
  - Photos: 3
  - Description: This is a great use of a portion of a monkeypod log that usually gets discarded. Lumber mills don't usually mess around with the part of the trunk of the tree that is closest to the ground because of all the holes and general weirdness. They like nice continuous logs. That's where our lumber salvager and reforestation project owner in Costa Rica comes in. When we work with him, he lets us pick through all of the cutoffs like these.

  - Location: Minneapolis, MN
  - Photos: 11
  - Description: We built this table for a client in Wales. After showing him a number of slab options, we came down on this awesome claro walnut slab that was a little over 10 feet long and 40-50 inches wide. The slab had some of the most amazing figuring to it we have ever seen. The raw edge to the dining table is more of what we call a partial live edge dining table where we draw the clients dimensions over the slab, cut everything that falls outside of the rectangle and leave raw everything that is inside it…
- [Salvaged redwood root console](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/salvaged-redwood-root-console-pj-vj~2203406)
  - Location: Minneapolis, MN
  - Photos: 7
  - Description: An awesome salvaged redwood root console. This was around 6ft long by 2ft wide by 30" tall, and was cut out of a dug up redwood root ball out of someone's back yard that was around 6 times the size of this piece.

  - Location: Minneapolis, MN
  - Photos: 16
  - Description: This was a 12ft long claro walnut dining table with a raw edge and trestle leg done in a sort of Nakashima style we made for a client. He wanted some large, contrasting butterfly joints and a more traditional sturdy looking base.

  - Location: Minneapolis, MN
  - Photos: 4
  - Description: Our diving board console is one of our longest running designs. A reclaimed wood console with a floating leg is a design that can fit in with a lot of styles, and the combination of the natural raw edge, the solid wood slab and the modern clean look of the lucite leg is also appealing. WE always pay a great deal of attention to getting that mitered cut just right so the grain lines match up: a continuous grain running up the leg and across the top giving the solid wood slab a look of simply bein…

  - Description: This was a 10ft long by 4ft wide claro walnut dining table we made for a client, on thick lucite legs, sort of floating above the floor. There was spectacularly colorful graining to it as well as impressive crotch graining.

  - Location: Minneapolis, MN

  - Description: A beautiful slab of mango wood with a perfectly arched raw edge set off by three squared off sides and thick lucite slab legs gives this desk a great modern, sleek feel. The little pencil drawer adds some functionality to the design while still looking cool.

  - Location: Minneapolis, MN
  - Photos: 3
  - Description: This oval walnut dining table is one of the cleanest designs we have done. Clean from the standpoint that it's nice and simple, small size for our client's kitchen area and a subtle knife edge to go with the client's mid century modern interior. With the small side top, we needed legs that would stay out of the way but still be quite stable for a high use everyday table. So the rectangular tube pi legs seemed to fit the ticket (the symbol for pi upside down - for those of you that don't celebrat…
