### Reviews

**★★★★ — Paul Persson, Oct. 2025**

> UPDATE: BlueStar pays attention to these reviews and messages sent thru Houzz, both of which I did on Oct 14th regarding the review below. Within a day or two I got a call from Doug, their National Marketing Director. He has worked diligently to resolve my issues. I live in rural Idaho, several hours from the nearest BlueStar tech. They finally reached an appliance tech at Sam's Appliance in Lewiston who agreed to respond if he was pre-paid. He normally does not come this far out as it is almost a 90 minute drive time. I also managed to get Barb in Customer Service to agree to send me out a set of shutter gauges.
>
> I have a 48" range that was just installed in June. I am trying to resolve an issue with my burners and the fact my oven will not get to temp. All I need for the burner issue is the set of air shutter gauges that should have been sent as part of the range to ensure proper air in the event of any movement during shipping. The oven not getting to temp may be another air shutter issue as well, but I cannot seem to reach anyone who can actually send me what I need to fix it.

> I had a 60" BlueStar for 10 years - included grill and griddle - and had maybe one service call. I loved it so much I bought a 48" five years ago and it's been fully operable for maybe 2 years. Customer service, local reps, distributor showroom - no one helps beyond a sympathetic "sorry, call this person." (That person won't come to my town to service the stove.) Don't do it.

> I purchased the 30″ DOUBLE ELECTRIC WALL OVEN WITH FRENCH & DROP DOWN DOORS for a new condo. My wife likes the french doors for access. The overall mechanical build of the unit seems solid - I think the unit weighs approx 600 pounds. The doors function well as do the slide out racks. The unit also looks good - no complaints with the aesthetic.
>
> However, three years after the original install, we are still having serious issues with the oven. The first issue we had was that the control screen faulted and only showed zig-zag lines - totally inoperable. Bluestar sent a local technician to replace the control board. The same problem developed shortly thereafter - this is when they decided to change the entire oven - not an easy task. Shortly after we installed the new oven, the unit started faulting again. Bluestar sent a completely new control board (with relays) and a new front panel control. The oven ran OK for a while and then more issues. The local tech returned and installed a new control board - Bluestar realized that there was an issue with the supplier of their original control boards and so switched to a new supplier. I think we might have received the first or second control board from the new supplier. Now the oven is still not functioning - three main issues:
>
> 1\. Lower oven taking 70 minutes to come to 500 deg F - upper oven only takes 30 min - I think the 30 min is the Bluestar specification and similar to other ovens.
>
> 2\. The oven fan will cycle on unexpectedly for maybe 15 seconds - at random times. It could happen at 11:00am and the oven was not used in the morning or the previous evening - totally spontaneous.
>
> 3\. If we cook something at 375 deg F and then reset the temp set point to 350 deg, there is no indication that the oven is cooling to the new setpoint ( you can not watch the actual temp go to the new setpoint like you can when you first turn on the oven) and it seems that the oven is actually no longer heating but will just cool down and then shut off. I am thinking that the only way to go to the new setpoint might be to turn the oven off, wait for actual temp to go below new 350 deg setpoint and then restart the oven and set temp to 350 deg F - not fun.
>
> The local technician was here today (again) - it took 3 weeks for them to get to us. Bluestar tech service told our local tech that they needed to send a new control board with panel - again! Bluestar could have easily sent the new control board based on my description of the issue. So now we may need to wait another three weeks.
>
> Given our experience with Bluestar, I would recommend against buying their products. I will update this post as things unfold.

> Got the RNB36 range just over e year ago. I am still in awe. Just amazing in every possible way. Amazing cooking and baking. It is a bit of pain to clean. Sure, it is easier than other professional ranges since you can remove the grates to wash them and there is a drip tray for messes but still not as easy as spraying cleaner and wiping. Anyway, no big deal for such an excellent tool.

> DO NOT BUY. This beautiful looking range has been nothing but trouble. After pouring over $2,000 in repairs we are finally abandoning this 5 year old stove. The list of troubles is endless. Knobs so hot they have melted, gas leaks in the top that could not be found until entire gas pipe replaced, convection oven fan failure due to falling loose screws , insulation cooked off under the oven and caused oven wiring thermostat to ignitor to melt and short out , so no oven or broiler. Explosions of gas pouring out of the knobs and melting wires, gas valve failures. Two different service people unable to get help from BlueStar. We have been six months with no range and endless repair people who thought they had finally fixed it when gas started to flare and flame from the knobs melting the electrics and causing burn marks to the stainless steel top and the smell of electrical fire permeates the kitchen. This range is a disaster.

> I had multiple quality issues with bluestar and I cannot recommend their ranges, especially at the price point they offer. Although the stove is fantastic when it's finally working well, the oven is not - and the quality issues + customer service and limited 2 year warranty make it not worth it, pick another brand.

> I , also, researched for the perfect stove!!! It’s beautiful but I have been so disappointed from the start. The service has been awful.!

> I was super excited to purchase this high-end stove, but our experience has disappointed me. In every direction or phone call make to ABT or BlueStar, a finger is pointing for the other person to resolve the issues, or this is not enough evidence to support a replacement. Meanwhile, whenever a part needs to be fixed for my $12,000 stove, I am left with something unusable or, in my most recent case..an unusable stove. Please see our timeline of what has occurred in the past 12 months:

>
> The service manager at ABT is aware and continues to tell me there are discrepancies with ABT's reports, and we need more evidence to support the need for replacement. I will keep you posted on how this all turns out..I do promise that. Nobody should spend this kind of money to have the number of problems we have had. I will continue to turn to social media regarding my experiences. Clearly,
> BlueStar is not listening and working families should not be spending money for a product with these kinds of issues.

> I'm sadly putting the word out to beware of this brand. We renovated our home and I did tons of research to choose our stove and refrigerator brand. I rejected all of the typical high-end brands and went with Blue Star. What a mistake. While I absolutely love the design, the customer service is like nothing I have seen before. It is virtually non-existent. The ice-maker in our refrigerator broke the 1st time a few months into use (on Memorial Day, as we entered summer 2021) and now it is broken again for the month of August.
> I have waited for hours on the customer service line to no avail. I have emailed three times (they tell me that they are more than a week behind on emails so they will get to me soon - no lie!), and they also tell me that it will be at least another month to maybe get the part. When I tell you that the customer service tone, availability and responsiveness is incredibly disappointing and infuriating, I am truly not exaggerating. I still have no idea what is happening with our service request since they still are behind on the emails and I can't take another hour on hold to speak to an operator. Please beware, despite the beautiful looking products.

**Comment from BlueStar:**

> I apologize about the issues you're experiencing and our senior customer service manager Jon Stivers may be able to assist. He can be contacted at jstivers@bluestarcooking.com Monday through Friday from 9:30am - 4:00pm EST.

> Horrendous range. I’m on my 3rd service call. Customer service is terrible as well. Reached out to them and no response. Would NOT recommend. This is not even a year old.
> Look elsewhere!!

> Update on previous. Service tech, 2nd call. Replaced front control panel. Now everything burns, can’t touch handles because they are so hot. Controls are switched so top control controls bottom oven and vice versa. Take a look at cookies…burned in 9 mins at 325 degrees. At what point do I deserve a refund? Over $8,000, throwing food out, can’t cook for my kids.

**Comment from BlueStar:**

> We apologize about the issue you're experiencing and reached out to the service team to see what could be done. They provided the following message - We are working with the servicer, dealer and our sales team to get the appliance working for you. The issue with the cookies is being addressed by the servicer who has agreed to come back to resolve the issue due to the installation switch issue.

> Our Bluestar 24" gas range oven stopped working a few months after installation. After many phone calls and 5 service calls, over 12 months, they agreed to replace it, that was on 3/25/2022, they said it would ship 6/1/2022. Just called today and found out it was delivered to the Albert Lee Appliance store on May 10th, for delivery & installation. No one ever contacted us! We have been with out a working oven for 15 months and this is really unacceptable. Bluestar needs to improve.their product and customer service.

## Community Q&A

**Q: I would love to know the brick that was used in this arched kitchen?** *(in Photo Questions)*

What is brick used over the stove in archway?

A: Hello, unfortunately we were not informed on the other materials used in the kitchen other than the appliances that were used on the show.

**Q: what brand are the appliances?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Who makes the stove & refrigerator?

A: The cooking and refrigeration appliances are manufactured by BlueStar which you can learn more about at https://www.bluestarcooking.com/

**Q: What is the manufacturer/color of the brick** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Unfortunately we only have information on the appliances and not any of the other features in the room.

**Q: Question about your backsplash shelf** *(in Photo Questions)*

Hi -- Can you tell me how wide/deep your backsplash shelf is? Also, can you tell me where you got this? I am looking online for backsplash shelves and have found many, but nothing exactly like this. Thanks very much.

A: John - The backsplash shown is our 24" backguard with 10" shelf that is compatible with all BlueStar ranges and rangetops. The width would be the same as the range so you have 24", 30", 36", 48" (model shown) and 60" widths. It appears they did modify it slightly since we do not have openings for the pot filler pre-cut into the accessory.

**Q: What material and color are the counters and backsplash?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Simply gorgeous!

A: Leigh, unfortunately we didn't get that information during the showcase and only have info on the products we supplied.

**Q: BUYER BEWARE -- BlueStar (Blue Star)** *(in Appliances)*

I know there are other threads on this issue, but I want to start a new one so that as many people as possible are aware of BlueStar's defective products and appalling lack of customer service.
This issue goes back many years, and you can find many threads about it, not only here, but on other sites as well. My story is the same as many others. I was using my oven and, suddenly, the door would not open. Apparently, after reading many, many posts about this, the door hinges are defective.
In the past, BlueStar would either ship a customer a new door with different hinges (sometimes sending multiple replacements!!), or would offer a new door at a significant discount. Now, though, they will not do that, saying there wasn't a recall (there should have been). I would have to purchase a new door for approximately $800. That's $800 IF I fix the door myself, not including any service fees.
My range cost me at least $8000 with the custom color and matching hood. In addition to the door issue, I've had issues with the spark ignitors, and the top of the stove is NOT entirely cast iron, but has a cheap black porcelain paint in places, resulting in a lot of rust and burnt brown stains that cannot be removed. Given that it's not all truly cast iron, the stove cannot be completely seasoned. The hood lights stopped working after very little use, and I've yet to have time to deal with that issue.
Perhaps the company has changed ownership, which would explain the discontinued assistance with the defective doors. Buyer beware.
EDIT: I'm including links to some other sites/threads that also detail BlueStar's issues and lack of ethics.

UPDATE 1: See comment below.
UPDATE 2: I emailed BlueStar, as they suggested below, and when they called me, I got the same exact rigamarole as the first time I called their CS people:
"there wasn't a recall" -- as if that negates the fact that BlueStar openly admitted in the past (see above linked threads) that the door hinges were a defect. Recalls are voluntary.
Same offer to sell to me for $800.
"I can check with my manager to see if I can give you a discount." Right; while I sit on hold for nothing. This time, I told them to call me back if there was and, SHHHHocking, no one called me again.
She admitted that the door/hinges design was changed.
So this was their idea of "helping" me. Nice.
Maybe you have hundreds of dollars to spend correcting defects on such an expensive appliance. I do not. And, honestly, the wealthy people I know wouldn't be willing to burn money due to a company's lack of integrity either.
And thank you to Houzz for allowing us to post reviews and, hopefully, save someone else the aggravation and expense.

A: @User We are sorry that you’re experiencing issues. Our senior cus serv mgr Jon Stivers would like assist you in getting this corrected and he can be contacted at jstivers@bluestarcooking.com
