The interior renovation was substantial with all flooring, cabinets and most of our furniture being declared a total loss. We felt very comfortable working with Brenda. She was very understanding, empathetic, open minded, and very principled in her interactions with us. She was very organized and provided accountability for her expenditures with periodic updates throughout the project. She was willing to integrate our existing furniture and artwork into her design scheme. It was projected to close in July/August but didn’t actually close until October. We live half time in Minnesota and half time in Arizona. She met with us before we left Arizona in April of 2021 and we did all of our communication and some selection of furnishings by email. After she got a sense of what we liked, she took control of the selections of furnishings and accessories from there. The big reveal to us was when we arrived in early December and we could not have been more pleased. Even such an important selection as a mattress, she did a great job. Fixtures like these are often the pieces in a new design that pull the rest of the room together. If you were going for an Industrial vibe, which one of these Houzz exclusive light fixtures would be your pick? VOTE and tell us about it in the comments! A: I think the industrial look is a trend that won't last. It has it's charms and it's fun to mix a little into your design, but I wouldn't go overboard with it. It lacks grace and true beauty. Remember...a little goes a long way. **Q: What color paint did you use on the kitchen cabinets?** *(in Photo Questions)* A: The cabinets were stained using an espresso color. It was done by a professional that the homeowner knew and they did a great job. Thanks for asking. **Q: Contrasting countertops** *(in Design Dilemma)* We have venetian gold granite countertops with honey oak cabinets. We need to decide on a contrasting countertop for the island and would like something solid and durable. The island is also honey oak. Any ideas? Walls are light gray. Current countertops and backslash below. A: After reading all the comments, I agree that solid black or dark brown is your best bet. White would be too bright against the warm colors you already have. Find a solid color quartz that compliments both the back splash and the existing granite and you'll never be sorry. **Q: POLL: Bedskirts - Yes or No?** *(in Polls)* How do we feel about bedskirts? Do you love them as an essential part of your bedding ensemble or do you consider them an unnecessary dust catcher? VOTE and tell us about it in the comments! A: It all depends on the overall design of the room. I prefer beds that don't need a but there are certain steps you have to take to make it work. The first thing is to get a box spring support that's low profile. This will fit behind the bed rails so only the mattress is visible above them. For a clean, updated look, tuck in the bedding at the foot of the bed. Sides are optional. Having the floor show makes the space feel larger and more open.
