> Sasha from BLOK Architecture did a fantastic job redesigning the back of our 1920s home and adding on a screened porch and a deck. The entire process, from conception, to ironing out the details, to ensuring that everything was constructed as planned, went very smoothly.  Sasha took a lot of time to listen to and understand what we were trying to accomplish.  He initially presented us with 3 different concepts and then worked closely with us fine tune the details of the design.  In addition, given the location of the house in a historic district, we needed to maintain the historic nature of the house and neighborhood and fulfill the requirements of the historic commission.  Sasha was well versed in all of this as was very evident both in the ease with which we received approval and the way his design meshed so well with the rest of the house. It was amazing to watch what had been useless, awkward space develop into a beautiful bathroom, library, and laundry room.  Meanwhile the porch makes us feel like we are relaxing out in the woods rather than actually in the center of Durham. Sasha even devised a system to allow us to enclose the screened porch for cold weather at some point, while maintaining the porch as open as possible.   We can’t thank Sasha enough. He was able to accomplish all of our goals while maintaining the historic nature of the house and staying within our budget.  What we ended up with was a house way beyond our dreams. The design was excellent, communication was very easy, the costs were very fair and transparent, and the end results were perfect.

**Q: Could you please share the shade of orange on the walls?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I am interested in going bold in a windowless powder room. Thanks!

A: This was done 16 years ago so I'm not sure if it's still current, but it's Benjamin Moore 2014-30 "Tangy Orange."

Who makes the sink, please!

A: I have no idea--it's from 1905 and was in the house when I bought it!  The house was built in 1919 by two brothers, the first licensed plumbers in Durham, so this sink probably came from their showroom after languishing without purchase for a decade.

**Q: Great colors** *(in Photo Questions)*

Please share the name/manufacturer of the paint colors- particularly the bathroom blues, thank you

A: Sorry I don't recall the color names--that project was a decade ago!  I do recall that all interior paint was from Benjamin Moore, but I'm not sure that will give you much direction.  Sorry!

**Q: Countertop** *(in Photo Questions)*

What is the countertop material. Thanks

A: It is soapstone, which has a wonderful, rich color (primarily a modeled green-gray).  It was chosen by my clients and definitely very handsome, but my understanding is that it's quite porous and difficult to keep from absorbing spilled liquids like red wine or oil.

**Q: Where did you get the mirrors?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: I believe I bought the mirrors at Pottery Barn, although they were discontinued shortly afterwards.  They spin and have shelves on the back--essential for making this design come together.  Waterworks sold some, too, but they were about $1,300 per mirror, whereas I believe I got the pair for $220.  This was all about a decade ago and things have, no doubt, changed.  Good luck!

**Q: How did you fix the discoloration in between tiles?** *(in Photo Questions)*

The floor shows some areas where the joints are lighter colored or uneven (for example in front of the door). How did you fix that issue? Thank you

A: Sorry, I don't have anyone to recommend--this kind of work is handled by the GC's.  Perhaps try calling a tile supplier, like Best Tile, to ask about installers?  It might take a couple inquiries, but I think that's your best bet (ha ha)  for finding the right person.
