## Community Q&A

**Q: How to make my 8 year old room more masculine?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

My 8 year old son's bedroom is essentially white and deep navy blue.  I am looking to add an accent color to make the room feel a bit more boyish and masculine (per his request).  

I'm also looking to repaint the walls. We painted them dove wing, thinking it was a light gray, but the color is basically an off white.
It looks very clean and crisp but a little cold.  Should I leave it and add depth and warmth with accessories or repaint? 
If we were to repaint: light gray or retro brown (but light).

And what colors for area rug, throw pillows and club chair?  

He loves geography and soccer and the accessories will be vintage maps, globes and  soccer inspired art.  

Any ideals will greatly appreciated.  Thanks

**Q: Home Improvement** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Just bought a home in Michigan; built in 2000. Need work in bathrooms, kitchen, living room paint, appliances etc. any good place around who can do it all. Too busy to go to ten different places.

A: As a general, we do not sub through big box stores because their contractors are a dime a dozen. Service Magic is also constantly trying to get us to buy their leads. They do not check to see if we are reputable. I looked up ratings and there are a large number of poor ratings for the work performed through contractors who went through SM. they have recently changed their name, not sure what it is. I can't speak from personal experience however because we do not advertise through them nor have I ever used one of their contractors. A majority of our business is through word of mouth/referrals. Contact your local chapter of NARI. Angie's List is also a great resource if you can't ask anyone. Good luck in your search!
