Working with Jeff, the owner, was an absolute pleasure and he listened to our design ideas and added some really great improvements. > Next, we wound up hiring Lakevue to change quite a few things to the exterior of our house, including converting a three-car garage to a two-car garage with ample storage. This required quite a few trades and the end result was kept on schedule and looks absolutely fantastic. All the changes fit the character of the house and the style we were going with perfectly and we have had numerous complements on the completed work. > Finally, we hired Lakevue for a nearly total remodel of the first floor of our house, a project which took several months and again Jeff did a fantastic job keeping the project on schedule and working through issues in the house and with subcontractors. Throughout the process Jeff was professional and attentive and made sure we understood what the process was going to be, how long it would take and what the costs would be. Once work started Jeff and Jason quickly took down the old deck and begin work installing the new one. As with any project we ran into a few snags here and there but throughout it all Jeff was there to explain what happened and what our options were to go forward. We did have a few months delay thanks to the City of Sammamish and COVID but through it all Jeff kept in contact and made sure we knew what was going on. In the end Jeff and Jason did a great job and the results speak for themselves! The deck is beautiful and all of the little accents such as post lights, stair lights, under deck lights and sofffit really make the deck stand out. In addition Jason added some neat little flourishes where the deck meets the side of the house that makes it feel like it blends in rather than stops abruptly. And the Trex RainEscape drainage system is a must have for the rainy PNW! I have had nothing but problems with the shower. The grout continues to chip out, even after he sent someone out to fix it the first time a year ago. Now I have found that the shower tile on the floor was not properly applied and water has leaked through. The tile easily pulls up when it shouldn’t. There is black also mold forming under the tile. I have had to pull up the shower tile floor and I’m in the process of replacing it. Also, the glass shower door was not hung properly and the door continues to slip out of the hinges. This continues to happen after he sent someone out to fix it a year ago. Other tile experts have seen the tile work in the shower and on the bathroom floor and said it was poor work, which includes exposed cut edges on the floor tile. I spent a lot of money on this remodel and I know I over paid by double. That realization was bad enough but to know that the work was poorly done and I have to pay more to fix all the problems is even more bothersome. This shower is only two years old. Is it a white cedar? I am trying to find pictures of a white cedar deck with notes about how it was finished. Thank you for your time. A: Anna, this is western red cedar, in a D+ grade of clear vertical grain(no knots). The deck was freshly built with no finish on it at the time of the photo. I am not familiar with white cedar, unless it is actually alaskan yellow cedar. I started building decks professionally in 1978. Thanks!! A: Hi Lisa. It is cedar tone Penefin stain on clear cedar materials. **Q: how tall are the posts? how high is the rail? what size lumber for** *(in Photo Questions)* railings? A: Tricia, the railings are 36" tall to the top of the top cap of horizontal top rail. The posts are another 4" above that. This is a Timbertech railing system, the only thing wood about them is the pressure treated 4x4 posts inside the white sleeves. Does that help? Are you looking to have a new deck built in our area? What size boards?** *(in Photo Questions)* A: Hi Karri, The decking, railing, steps, trim, benches, lattice skirting and planter boxes are all Clear (no knots) Cedar. It was stained about 2 months after it was built to allow for proper moisture content of wood to be released. Then stained properly with Penefin stain twice. This photo was taken 2 years after the deck was built and stained. These are all the little tidbits of my experience left with each customer, to achieve the most out of the new deck. I hope this helped. I have some photos of the deck in the raw state somewhere also. Size of deck boards is 5/4"x4". Radius edged and smooth all 4 faces.
